    Advancement.com

I have reviewed many posts in this section and have a lot of respect for the experience of the members here and would like to hear your thoughts on the name advancement.com. This is the 11 letter dictionary word. It has many different branding possibilities, including obvious employment. I have been the owner of this domain name since the first registration in early 90's.

    I am interested in:
    • What is your appraisal of the name and why?
    • what alternatives are available in development to increase the value?
    • What strategies would you employ to market the name/domain?

    Your opinions are appreciated!

    Thank you kindly,

    Advancement

Hello everyone. I am not here to mislead anyone. I have held onto this domain for many years and have only used it for my small business website. It is capable of so much more and I want to move toward that direction. I want to either sell it for the right price or develop it into a powerhouse site. The decision would come from your feedback and I appreciate, truly appreciate any comments you can offer as to its value, suggestions on how to develop it or how to market it. I have my own thoughts but a consensus would sure help..

Thank you all again, Mr. Advancement

Its a great name for what I see primarily job markets...from the high profile executive search, up-and-comers. Great place to post tips...interviews, strategies, job bank, etc.

Also great potential for an educational portal for tutoring or advanced placement testing.

The domain is the keyword so there would be very little to do with having to brand the name/site.

Its hard to put a price on this. I would minimally view this in the $XX,XXX range primarily for its potential as a site.

But the real value would be in the properly created site or portal and linking up with some high profile job information sites (monster.com.careerbuilder.com and one I recently came upon - GlassDoor.com).

Promoting this on Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Google+ would be beneficial as well.

Hi Doc COm and thank you for your feedback. I certainly will look into your ideas and plan on executing a plan that will offer higher visability and value to the name.

Initially, one might think of Advancement.com as a job site and it would be rightly so, a strong contender. However, when I go and search for advancement, there are almost infinite directions for it to go like advancement in:
    Techology,
    Medical
    Government
    Politics
    Education
    careers
    and so forth.

I am going to consider linking as you suggested and if you have any more info you can direct me to, this would help. Meanwhile, thank you so much again for your comments.

there are no ads in google when searching the term, which illustrates it's limited commercial appeal

    the best usage imo,

    www.career.advancement.com

some terms like "technology, and medical" would go better with 'advancements' or at the end of your url string

    www.advancement.com/technology

as is, outside of the obvious employment realm, the meaning or usage can be vague without a "subject" to advance, has advanced or that is assisting the "advancement" effort.

take a look at these examples of what i mean and their respective listed prices:

    AdvancementTechnologies.com $688

    AdvancementFoundation.com $1,395

    AdvancementGroup.com $1,995

even with the limitations, 5 figures is not unreasonable

but to take it to the next level, you'll have to incorporate those type of examples and more, as strings

    Good Luck!
