How would this be developed?
In Australia, it's almost second nature to goto the govt transport website for timetable information, etc.
Difficult one to appraise, imho.

Its a good bit more complex than that here in the states. There are many different local and regional bus lines, bus companies, state and city run bus service, and the information is a bit complex to get pulled up. Some regions have multiple bus lines that cover them. There are also national bus lines like greyhound.
Not much organization to the chaos here, but I would imagine that is not surprising.
taxi cabs are run by private companies, so I can understand the price it fetched, not to mention it probably gets decent type-in traffic.
what is the % of govt/private owned bus companies?
All national bus lines are privately owned. Greyhound, Trailways, Peter Pan
I would also say that 98% of regional bus lines are privately owned. Short line, Jitney.
I would also say there is quite a bit of competition in NY on a airport shuttle bus that picks up from specific points in the city.
The major cities each have their own local public transit. There might be a few privately owned city bus lines in NYC area (for example an express bus from Jersey City to wall street) but most other major markets would not have a privately owned city bus unless it was for something like a trip to vegas or atlantic city.
bump pls.
bueller?

I once had an idea for a bus site, but it was going to prove to be too much work me to be bothered developing it so you can have the idea for free.
Google Maps of the major city bus routes, stations and stops with a forum where everyone could go on and ***** about just how bad the services were.
I had considered trying to just consolidate routes, maps, times and sync them with google maps somehow. However I think trying to find and manage the data alone will prove to be quite costly.
I don't think bus riders own a computer.
BobGuzzo.comdomains.
I'm not sure you know of what you speak my friend.
I think that statement is might reek of something unpleasant.
