Greetings everyone.

Can you give me your opinion of what a canadian city .com domain name is worth if you were A) buying and B) selling? Here are some specs on the domain:

- domain is single word i.e. cityname.com
- city population is about 150,000
- city is located just outside of major city
- domain is 10 years old
- domain gets 1000 type-ins per day
- domain earns about $10,000 per year in advertising revenue

Penticton.com sold for upper xx,xxx not long ago, I believe. Population there is about 44,000 with a 'retail market' of 110,000 including surrounding areas.

Based on other geo sales it could go for 100 to 200k. If the site got developped like palmsprings.com, which gets local business advertisers, maybe more than 200k.

Your talking about a city the size of:

Saskatoon
Regina
Barrie
St. John's
Abbotsford
Sherbrooke
Kelowna

In order to have a domain appraised you need to specify the domain... Perhaps your question should be posted in the lounge or the cafe...

Yes, we really need to see the domain name. No two cities are created equal. Some are growing quickly, others not so much. Some are really wealthy, others of course not so much etc etc. These things will all weigh on the value.
