I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on the
value of the following domain name:

ColoradoPlasticSurgery.com

I own this name and I have been approached by a plastic surgeon who is interested in acquiring this for his own website and is asking for a price.

I have done my research, and this is the best domain name available that combines this area of medical practice with this geographical location.

We have a large number of plastic surgeons in this area, and a correspondingly large patient base. This is a very active, highly competitive and lucrative medical specialty that is not dependent upon insurance reimbursements.

Plastic surgery patients are expected to pay for their care totally before the procedures are started. As a result, the patient base is a financially gifted one.

I will appreciate your thoughts on what you view as the potential value of this domain name. To the extent that doing so is possible, I would appreciate hearing your thoughts from the perspective of the potential physician buyers, as opposed to the perspective of those of us who are domain resellers.

By the way, I have done my research and I am my only competition for this medical specialty domain name area in Colorado. All of the .com names that I do not own are already owned by physicians who are developing their sites.

well, this is a great situation to be in...high demand, low supply. THis will lead to a great price, and lets not forget that this is a VERY profitable market and so therefore you can charge them alot for it.

One good way to handle this is to tell the person who wants it there is alot of interest. Tell then you will be holding a blind auction, and if he wishes to participate, to have his offer in by **/**/**. Then proceed to contact all the other plastic surgeons in the area, telling them the same. This way, you will get the maximum they are willing to pay.

Just in case you don't know, a blind auction is where everyone puts what they are willing to pay on a piece of paper, and you open up all the pieces of paper and whoever is highest gets it, This way, people will bid the maximum they are willing to part with instead of what they think they will get away with so they don't loose the name, as there is only 1 of these names ever available.

I have finally gotten most of the "bugs" out of the HTML coding for my domain name website, so I am now confident that I can get it launched in the next couple of days.

Having this domain name, along with those associated with a number of other medical specialties, listed on the site and describing the blind auction going on will be a great way to generate additional interest in this domain name. In addition, having a professional-looking and attractive domain name site will add to the credibility of my company, as well.

I just wanted to update this thread and let you all know that a successful purchase and transfer of this domain name has occurred. Your appraisals were "right on," in terms of the final price.

I really appreciate the help you all gave me in dealing with this sale. The "perfect" buyer found me and we were able to accomplish the purchase and transfer in a matter of a couple of hours.

Better still, in many ways, is the fact that the buyer and I established a very nice working relationship that may lead to further sharing of professional talents and resources once the doc's practice is relocated to Colorado.

Isn't it nice to know that a "long," but perfectly
descriptIve domain name can demand a decent price? My marketing plan for legal and medical domain names stresses the importance of combining the specialty area and the geographical area, so that a prospective client or patient can find the right
resources. I know this will not work every time but it is reassuring to see that a different approach CAN be successful!!

I'm sorry that I really can't say what the final amount was, but there were some very nice aspects to this sale that add considerable value to the final selling price. For example, a trusting, positive and open professional relationship was established that is very likely to lead to further professional collaboration, not just in the realm of domain names, but also in the prospects of working together by sharing professional skills from my "real" (i.e., my "day job") profession (clinical psychology). In addition, having a fine young surgeon thrilled to have the domain name he really wanted and as a result, his being willing not only to write a testimonial for my website but also to refer some of his colleagues in other specialties, is the kind of launch any new business would love to have. I believe that a good, solid transaction such as this one augers well for further medical domain sales.

This also raises an additional idea for me. If we all, as members of this forum, could be even more supportive of each other's domain selling prospects than we are at times, I wonder if this could lead to more successes for all of us. For example, I wonder if we tend to be too critical at times of alternative approaches to choosing and marketing domain names, focusing our accolades only on the rare occasions when we can catch a two- or three-character .com that might be of interest to a large industry.

Might we consider trying to brainstorm the myriad of ways in which so-called "lesser" domains might be marketed? I think this might be worth trying. Is anyone else game for trying an approach such as this? I'll bet there might be a couple of members of this forum who might be willing to share some sales approaches and secrets with an eye toward increasing all of our chances for success. If anyone else is up for trying this, I'd love to give it a try.
