about the value of a domain
dolphins.com is a top domain , reason: overture suggestions..
etc
thecoral.com ( one of my domains ) 5$ maybe..
now
the use of them
dolphins.com alexa rank 321.000
allsports.gr 99.000 ..meaning more traffic from dolphins
fact from my admin pannel ..70 % of traffic comes from redirection of thecoral.com
pure type ins...
my opinion : thecoral.com has more value from dolphins.com
i know you don t agree..just gimme explanation

Actually tasso, Dolphins.com is a top domain because of it gets TRUE type-ins,

Either people looking for the team or the animal.

That is daily traffic that = revenues with out the expenses of SEO or paying for placement in a SE.

For example..lets say Dolphins.com gets 300 Natural Type ins a day.

KNow lets say you wanted to sell Posters on Dolphins.

You either have to invest the time and energy to SEO or you have to pay for placement.

The Object is to sell product..so you have to rank high.

You goto Oveture.com and bid for placement purchsing the #3 position here under the search term "dolphins"

Thats # 3 position costs you 15 per click.

We are going to assume that # 3 position will get you the same 500 visitors that Greg gets with Dolphins.com (without paying)

Tass I didnt answer the second part because I am having trouble sorting out exactly what you are asking ?

Do you own "thecoral.com" .are you looking at traffic in YOUR admin console ?

Ignore alexa and any other SE for a moment...

I see that "thecoral.com" is pointing to allsports.gr that is because thecoral.com gets a"handful" of type-ins and or links from a previous site (although I dont see one listed on http://www.archive.org)


But I can guarantee you "thecoral.com" is no where near the same league as Dolphins.com

Alexa ranks websites using people who have downloaded their search bar..so you are only seeing results from people using the Alexa search bar.

I know I am missing part of what you are saying..but hope this helps..

So you are saying 22% of your traffic is coming from "thecoral.com" domain ..correct..


And you want to know why? ...

Because at some stage somewhere in the world "thecoral" was a recogized, popular term.. maybe it represented a Bar, or a products or the coral reefs or something...

Becasue of that recognition people TYPE-iN thecoral.com in their browser...and you are getting that traffic...Dosent look like much traffic but it is FREE traffic.. the KEY is determining what "they" that traffic is looking FOR..so you can SELL "it" to them..otherwise it is just wasted traffic.
