Question DOT BIZ domains - Good Investment?

What do people think of (dot) BIZ domains?

Are they worth investing in if the DOT COM is already taken?

noone knows! what amount of investment are you talking about? if you gonna spend 6 figure to build a dot biz web site, you'd better off buy a dot com and develop it. it's cheap now.

if your investment means register a dot biz for resale, it's worth the $8.88.

btw, if your budget to build a web site is limited, you have less choice to start with.

I did a look-up on the definition of investment. Here it is:

    investment

An item of value purchased for income or capital appreciation.

The ability to answer your question now becomes elementary...does a dot biz name have "value" at this time?

I would bet you "guns.com" they do (if I owned it of course). . The reason being is most domain names can be had for under $8 nowadays. Most of the dot biz landrush & 2b names taken are definitely worth more than $8 I can grant you that. So roughly 20,000 dot biz names (mostly likely more than that) have definite value at this time.

The next question is will the 20,000 some dot biz names rise in value?? I can answer that. Since dot biz was "created" for a specific purpose (businesses), and the fact that most dot com names of equal or higher value are tough to get, I would say the value of a dot biz rises as the supply of them (good ones) goes down and their "recognition factor" goes up. I myself will make damn sure my (5) dot biz's get recognized. I don't care about not having the dot com version of my names since they were taken long ago and would cost roughly the same to buy as it would to develop a name I already own. I assume others who have good dot biz's are in the same boat.

Since it is very doubtful ICANN will approve another dot com or "dot biz like" TLD anytime soon. The value of dot biz's are sure to rise over the next five years. After that. Who knows. My feelings are that if ICANN tries to make TLDs as ubiquitious as sand on the beach we won't have to worry about our domain names. Their use as a memorable tool will be severely effected.

I do like Neulevel's proactive methods with dot biz. They are coming out in the 4th Quarter with a product to help identify certain industries in the dot biz name when people do searches on the internet. At least that is my read on the product they are coming out with.

    Just my .02 worth!

DISCLAIMER: I believe in full disclosure. I have no ties with neulevel, and I own (5) dot biz's that are being developed [as we speak]
