    i've seen a few firms that now do this sort of thing, but i think the word rental is better than hire

    It's just a language anomaly. It's a UK term. In the US we hire people not things. We rent things (don't you just hate what we have done to the language)!

    The name could work for the UK market but not if you wanted to sell overhere. Of course if it's a rental business you probably wouldn't want to ship outside your own country anyhow.
