In fact, I'd say it was never all that popular with normal people, it was just companies trying to sound cool and then spending ungodly amounts of money trying to advertise the names so peopple would remember them. These days it's just a reminder of the silly excesses of the .com insanity. If you want to know the value of the e prefix, figure out what the name would be worth without the prefix, and then move the decimal point two places to the left. If the word after the e starts with a vowel, move the decimal again. If it has a hyphen, move another decimal spot. If there's more than one word (not including the extension) after the e, move yet another decimal point. This is just an estimate, but I think it's a good guide.

I consider those prefixes to be a major negative to a name's value, just like a hyphen (actually probably worse than a hyphen because hyphenated names with real words can at least work well for search engines. e and i prefixed words are not real words so no one is going to enter them in a search engine to begin win.)

Like is business.com is worth $7 mill (not that it probably is anymore, but for the sake of argument), then ebusiness.com would be $70,000 or so. Rough estimates.

DNF$: 6,442 Location: Florida | There is nothing about algebra that is electronic, so I would guess this name would be very hard to sell. Maybe reg fee to $25. You could always get lucky but it's a long shot.
