Like a Green energy Company that specialized in deriving Energy - Power from the Earth, Wind and Sun!

Or a Green Company that sells equipment to derive Energy from the Earth, Wind and Sun - home ground water heater - coolers; wind mills; solar panels, ovens, etc.

A long name but it's Domain is a Valid and a Current concern for a lot of people in the World!

SolarEnergy.com sold for over $1,500,000!

I see most everything in life in terms of potential.

YES, I do see a value on this DN as far as its potential use goes.

But its only valuable to those who see its potential and a possible use for it.

Those to whom do not have a 'vision' on it or otherwise do not see its potential will see it as a '0', I agree.

Kind of like an aptitude test, this is a test to see if you see a 'potential' for it, if yes then some $, if not then '0'. The same with ALL DNs, IMHO! Of course there is the search data which indirectly validates (DNs) broad 'Hello' in the general public that begs a higher intrinsic value despite opinions.

I see this validation for all DNs. Something like ''Money.com' is a no brainer - everyone has at least some 'Hello' on its potential uses and the bare stats! Other DNs that need to have some a more specific - Niche type 'Hello' on their potential for any value to be seen for them.

I had a discussion with a person who argued that he thought 'Electronics.com' would be a better DN for me to use for a New Electronics Prototyping Technology type of Website because it has HUGE search stats. I argued that ElectronicsPrototyping.com would get my site more people who were looking for 'Electronics Prototyping' type info., which I wanted to get on my 'Niche' site. A more specific audience and more interest in what they are looking for - not just dumb searches - Quality not Quantity! - And Yes I know thats another topic altogether!

I do see EarthWindSunEnergy.com as one of my many DNs that will need to be developed to even come close to its potential value - IMO! I am delving into that arena a little and is why I see some potential in it.

For me its fun to see the responses and the different visions or lack thereof on ALL of the different DNs listed here! It does allow me to get some insight into some of the respondents here!

Couple of points; firstly, 'potential' has no value unless it becomes fulfilled - and at that point it stops being 'potential' and becomes something else. So any value based on potential must be small cents in the dollar at the very very best.

Secondly, given your rationale above re 'Electronic Prototyping type info' - surely you would argue that the better name for that would be electronicprototyping.info rather than the .com? (Go get it...)

Electronicprototyping.com will get no traffic to speak of - electronics.com will get some; a portion of which may be looking for what you're selling, hence, electronics.com is far better even if judging it on those criteria. Other than that, it's just a FAR better name.

Cool, but...

I see potential in terms of what I see it could become or what I believe others can see what it could become - its Vision - potential(s) seen through the eyes of the beholder. This means one needs to have some 'Hello' on it or at least an interest in it for it to even mean anything to them. If one has no clue about it then it is totally worthless to them.

My point with the more specific 'Electronics Prototyping' vs 'Electronics' was in searching of the information on 'Electronics Prototyping'. For me and I think most people, they search for what they are looking for - not wanting to waste their time just 'window shopping'. I do some 'window shopping' type research at times but most of the time, I am interested in finding specifically what I am looking for! It is annoying to me to search and have to go through a bunch of non-related stuff because it was put in there for me to have to mull through for someone to get PPC type revenue, searching stats or whatever!

Electronics.com is a GREAT name but not for what my intended use would be for! And yes it would command HUGE bucks also and by far a more valuable name based on its stats and intrinsic value! I have developed a new electronics prototyping technology that has some Great applications and I only want those to go the website that would want to see the information! I do not want my Website clogged up with those who would just be mulling around and maybe be annoyed by going where they had not intended to go! If I had PPC ads or the like then I would not care where the traffic came from, it would hopefully would bring in more income.

But for a bunch of Engineers, Technicians and High School kids, etc. looking specifically for 'Electronics Prototyping' information and kits and updates, etc., it would be a REAL easy Website to remember - its name is what it is - Its Domain - Name!

How about these Domain Names:

PostCombat - A lot of Vets coming back from Combat type of experiences - could be a 'Help' type Website!
Nanomagnetic - Tons of new research and Technologies being developed - HUGE potentials - very tight Nich DN!
ControllingEmotions - A potential 'Help' type of Website for all aspects of potential Controlling Emotions help type resources!
GenomeGelealogy - A potential Website to plug your specific inherited Genomes into and see where you may have come from and what potential cures for all types of Genome & Epigenome specific diseases!
...

These each could become some a really Cool websites if developed with a GREAT Vision! Without a good interest or vision on these they are also 'stuck in the mud' - until developed with a Great Vision!

But their Key words do give a hint as to their potentials - again ONLY given ones Vision!

One could have a GREAT DN but if not developed properly it could still suck big time!

Just My Opinion which is biased through my own awareness, vision and interests.
