I think you made the right decision! Although I think it would have been a hard one to make, but I applaud your courage.

$2k is low, if it had been $5k I personally would have accepted it. This game is all about perception, more to the point 'public perception'. All of those who have read this thread read the domain name as 'FORUMS' and not as 'FORU dot MS', therefore this has great advertising legs. It will take very little to market such a name and the prospective buyer I feel recognised this, as obviously you did as well.

With the advertising bucks streaming away from the traditional media into internet advertising I think you have a winner, indeed in 5 years time I think you could be looking at medium 5 figures. It will not be long before advertising agencies realise that by buying such domains they can market their clients products/services much more effectively to the public.

imo.. they're going to die out soon.. These domains will only make things very complicated as far as typing in, even if alot of them are out and being marketed. Its just one of those things. Will die out soon imo.

You are definitely running a risk by not taking 2k for the domain.


One of two things are going to happen:


1. Hacked domains (good ones, and this one) will get picked up by marketing and become the next niche internet market, making this site prime.


2. It's just a "fad" that will quickly die out, rendering the domain rather worthless



Lucky for you, there isn't a sole on this board, whether they would like to think so or not, that can predict which of those two will happen.

You are obviously banking on number 1 happening, and that's totally fine. I have some hacked domains too, so I guess so am I, although my investement is rather minimal due to the uncertainty of it all.

If things work out like "I" think they will, I could make way more than that. I'm not in this for the short term. I'm in this for the next 30/40 years. To find a good "FORUMS" domain is almost impossible today. In 5, 10, 20 years how hard will it be then? If I made the wrong choice, I only missed out on $1735, if I made the right choice, I could make alot more than that.

I think you already have lost $260. It's got to have $5 in lesson value on what not to buy. Call whomever back and give it to them at $500 if they'll still take it. If not, then drop the price $100 at a time. Never fall in love with your domains, especially if they're this ugly.
