I am wondering what's the general worth of a domain that starts with free(itemname).com ?

It's a pretty popular item too.

Hundreds? Thousands? Tens of thousands dollars?

I saw one domain that's about to expire (tomorrow) and want to register it. But I want to know it's worth first.

it would be pointless to appraise the domain without knowing what it is. Freeporn.com would be worth more than FreeCocaine.com

say freebook.com (it's not book exactly, but it's a similar item)

and it returns 6484 hits in Nov 2002 on the Overture.com 'Search Term Suggestion Tool"

freeporn.com is probably worth a couple thousand bucks. Freecocaine.com isnt worth the registration fee. Freecar.com is perhaps worth a couple hundred bucks at the most.

It is almost impossible to give a rough guide. You really should register the domain, and have it appraised. It's OK to make a few mistakes!

My guesses:

1. freeporn.com --- $200,000
2. freecar.com --- ?
3. freebooks.com --- $1000
4. freebook.com --- $300
5. freecocaine.com --- reg fee

If it's available for register now, it probably isn't worth much.

In fact, that domain has already being registered (since 1999). It's just that it's going to expire tomorrow and I hope to grab it when it becomes available.

However, I have already made too many mistakes. The other day I registered phpbin.com , phpbin.net and phpcollection.com and most people here told me they don't worth anything.

so, I want to make sure I get it right this time.

oh, by the way, the free(***).com I was referring to , the overture.com 'Search Term Suggestion Tool" says the words in that domain returns 6484 hits.... so is that good?

Consider the difference:
"free car" has an OV count of 16684
"freecar.com" has an OV count of 697
