I just got this and I am planning on implementing a comptetion style site...

The thinking is people create a new 'cult' and have to try and persuade as many visitors to the site as possible to sign up for theirs.... each provides all the details trying to make them as appealing/funny as possible and the winner of the leaderboard at the end of the month wins a small cash prize (or possibly something else if i can eventually get a sponsor...)

Either that or i may throw up some weird humour page asking people to join my cult (church of the unwashed underpants or something) then try to get it listed on these joke sites so it can do the rounds by email.

what do people think?

well i wasnt particularly after a $ amount... the name in itself is not going to set the world alight... I was more trying to see what people thought of its potential to make a good site or perhaps if people had some good ideas on what to do with it...

plus i dont intend to make my millions from this site... this one is more for my (and others amusement). and if as a result it helps me pay for my webserver then all the better

I think that your idea for JoinMyCult.com is a cracker ~ you should definitely develop it. IMO the name itself has no resale value, but the idea is a winner & would certainly appeal to a younger audience, if you could make them aware of its existence.
