there was not much insight with fish.us, simply in my country Iceland, fish is THE thing and has made our country one of the richest on the planet so fish should not be underestimated

When it comes to your name I do not have the same angle there to base an appraisal, however the word gets over 4 million sites on google and the meaning of the word has to do with the internets most popular or finding a mate, interacting with other people.

The name alone can get you some $K but if you develope it and create traffic to it which should not be to hard, the value will increase dramatically based on the traffic, and I think you know this as well as I.

Anyway, dont sell cheap, I stick to my good names untill I get what I can accept, otherwise I keep them. Put you price on it like $10,000 or what ever you feel is the right price- and stick to it as minimum, then dont rush.

I have sold many names, none under $2000 yet and up to $30,000 and that one was sold 1998, before the rush, could have got 10 times that in the rush At the moment I am promotin www.CamPhone.com - I put my price on it and I have alrady a few good offers over $10K dont want to say exactly, in here I get appraisals for a few hundred $, but I intend to sell over $50K, so what others say and what I say doesnt matter, the buyer has the say.

Duke indicated something about a 5-year no interest loan based on my future sale of the domain.

I do not get it. Duke seems helpful, humorous, mild mannered, and runs a preeminent site www.Musicparadise.com . However, someone recovering in the hospital from one of Duke’s other loans E-mailed with the location of a picture of Duke’s muscle. Muscle is slang for the threatening guy Duke sends out if he does not get what he wants. The picture is at http://www.musicparadise.com/ali_duke.jpg The muscle and Duke are in the picture! I am not waiting any further as I would not be able to reg with broken arms and legs.

Duke, I am sending the no interest 5 year loan immediately. Please notify me if there is anything else I can do sir.

Actually, I would be stretched to find a use of MATE.US other than a dating site. The only alternative is where one submits a profile and the site matches [mates] you. I am a little late as a possible competitor, Soul-mate.US is already up. A friend suggested an escort service, but I do no think so.

I was encouraged by FISH.US having some of this highest .US appraisals (long-run) that I have seen on this forum.

I think Mate.us is a very good name for a singles or matchmaking site. I would estimate its value between $2500 and $5000 dollars. I know some people would think that is on the low end of the scale, but the reason is that the matchmaking market is dominated by several extremely large players, and competition is fierce. Capital start up costs could be prohibitive, depending on your resources. I have discussed this with several programmers who I trust, and they each agree that in order to create a quality site, with the resources akin to those available at match.com, or yahoo personals, or friendfinder.com, you would have to invest somewhere between 10 and15 k, and then you would have ongoing costs as a database develops and expands in order to pay for and build the resources to manage the information accumulated.

However, I do firmly believe a sound plan would be to market and sell Mate.us, and then use the proceeds to help market and develop Fish.us. In the long term, I believe Fish.us can get you a lot more money. The industry players who you could get to invest would be able to provide you with the capital support and resources that would likely establish you as a serious player with serious financial resources to branch out.

Thank you so much for your insightful appraisal. Actually in addition to appraising, you evaluated prospective financing and business plans! As far as the development costs you indicated, I agree they could be significant for a small site.

However, there are a few players [other than #1] that expand vertically (buy similar use domains) and because they are big, the incremental costs of developing are more for cloning than developing. Thus, those costs are minimal to them. More importantly, the net future stream of cash flows from a premier name by MATE.US is exceptionally favorable in any type of rate of return analysis they could do.
