MobileVoip.com, got an offer, is it good? What to do?

    Hello,

I am really confused on what i should do, and would appreciate your views.

I have had this domain for 9 years. Have sold many similar domains for up to 15k.But have held this as it was the best i had in my portfolio.

    Code:
    Mobilevoip.com
I could go on with lots of information as most medias report this to be the main revolution in waiting to happen. This is the main industry domain for this type of technology for mobile voip. All larger companies like skype, jahjah and many others use the marketing word "Mobile Voip" when they reffer to voip technology over mobile phones.

I could give you thousands of links, but chose to give only one here as i am totally new to postings and will hate to spam.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_VoIP

I have a client that gave me an offer first for 17k, 2 weeks ago, and just today upped it to 20.5k after some emailing between me and him. I know the buyer is for real as i have already sold him 2 similar domain over Escrow.com and sedo. I have had several offers earlier in ranges 12-16k for this domain name which i have turned down. This domain was earlier listed at Greatdomains also before sedo bought it out. I can also get it listed in SEDO's top domains section after a discussion with Sedo where i provided them the evaluation from old owners of greatdomains.

I hope your views can clear up my mind for selling or waiting...I have many links with info on this technology, and can send it to you in PM.

At the end, all i can say is please help. What is the value of this domain name. Should i take the money, or should i wait as this technology is just coming much stronger to our doorsteps with everyday that passes, and perhaps many on this board have already used mobile voip solutions, and can tell me more..

Best Regards and a huge thanks for any thoughts reflected. I know the value of this domain is way over what i have received in the bid (from what media reports about this growing technology) from this client, but i thought i might ask the members here before i take any actions.

Mobile services have huge growth potential. If this is your best domain, and your kids are not starving, I would hold it for a better price. Or take some equity. Be in this for the long term, that is the best way. Dont even consider the current economic downturn; sell for what you think its really worth.

Mobile VOIP is certainly the imminent future of the mobile phone industry. I think that this domain will go up in value over the next few years fairly substantially, but you must be careful as technology is ever changing, and Mobile VOIP might only last a few years.

I wouldn't accept that offer personally. It is for you to decide at what point you take the money and run. I would probably sell if I got an offer around 35k, even though I know the domain will rise in value (but that's playing it safe.)

Thank you guys for your views. I have now also discussed the matter with my partner, and he wont agree to sell of this domain for 20.5k, so i have written up the email ready with refusal, but kept it inn a .txt file for now. I have given him a 45-50k minimum all the way, while he has been trying 17k-20.5.

I am sure we could have tested to sell it of later this year at 45-50k, or hold on to it to 2011 when estimates project 120-150 million Mobile Voip users, compared to 7-8 million mobile voip users in 2007. The price then would for sure be much better for this domain name, as most mobile telecom providers have to go over to Voip to compete against other providers to stay in the game.

I will sleep on it for now in hope of more views from members here before i send of this e-mail tomorrow.

So what would be your appraisal of this domain name? Mobile Voip is a growing technology, it might be hard to say anything certain about a price of this domain name for many, but i have provided a few link below for the members here, so that i could get your best evaluations before an appraisal of this domain name. Just a few links are posted below. Note, they use the Term "Mobile Voip" all of them.

    best Regards

Absolutely fantastic domain -- I'd also hold onto it. If you or anyone reading this thread is interested in aquiring similar "mobile voip" names, I've got 4 I'm ready to sell. You can see them at Sedo > http://sedo.com/search/searchresult....ser=heather736

I would have taken it. This isn't emerging technology it's NOW technology... I had also invested in such names- I personally think that wVOIP (wireless voip) will become the more used term and I have placed my money where my mouth is. Though great name nontheless though $20.5K- given possible alternatives- would have worked- but hope you make a killing.

Thank you. Well i have seen many different diviations of voip lately. Mvoip, wvoip, ViaMAX, etc etc. Last year i sold the domain voipmobile.com for 15k. But after having done some Due D. over past 9 years holding MobileVoip, i have learned that this is the main industrial terms and therefor not let it go.

On the otherhand, yes your right its not emergeny TECH, but how many % of any new Techology is? Nevertheless tech is tech to us, and if this is the way things are going for future, then i would place my bet on these sort of names.

I have not received any further emails from the client after my email with refusal. However, i am confident after what i know that i did right in keeping it for now.

Still, an evaluation of it from members with its growth potential as the technology comes would beg great to hear...

    Regards

Guys. Got an longer email from the client mainly talking about the economic problems the world is facing now and so on. He made me a final bid of $25.000.

Damn. I had put my turning point on 30k.... He first gave a bid of
17k then 20.5k and now 25k seems to be as he said

"I have once more contacted my client and, having explained the matter again, asked them to give me their best offer. The result is that I can make you a final offer of USD 25,000 for mobilevoip.com. Please note though that although I understand that you will need some time to deliberate this with your associate that this offer comes with an expiry date (the funds are there at the moment but I cannot guarantee that this will remain the case a week from now)."

Guys, i trust your instincts, as many of you are pros here.
Let me know now what you would have done...I know everyone would have done different and its also a matter of personal economy, but i just wanna see what the general consensus is here on such an offer.

    Regards

    Thanks Azooza.
Considering to call him and tell him this way.
Lets meet half way then. 27.5 + share the escrow fee.

    VoR

I sent an email instead of calling, and main points in this email was like given below.

"Still, to close this off, i think both side's now are much closer inn striking a deal.
My suggestion is that you speak with your client and propose this.
We meet half way. $27500, and we share the escrow fee.I can defend this deal infront of my partner, but as you see there is a difference still in 25k and 30k of 5k. I think this will be simply the best option here. Let me know if we have reached a deal"

He has keept on increasing in increments. I decreased from 43k down to last bid 30k. So i wont just give it off at 25 as it is not his style in bidding also. So why not serve them a incremental bid like 27500 . Hehe...
Will update you all as soon as i know if we have a deal or not.

    Regards

Thanks aZooZa, but i already now got an reply from him like this:

"""The offer I made to you is the final offer. My client is offering you USD 25.000 for mobilevoip.com, valid until Friday January 16th. They will take care of the escrow costs.
Please take your time to consider the offer and get in touch with me next week. I will not be in the office this afternoon so won't be able to check my messages or answer my phone. Have a good weekend""".

    I will consider it.
