    Hey Greg...

As icehole and draqon have asked, how are you making $3000 a month?

Is it by monetizing your type-ins with ads and PPC links?
If so, I am skeptical because php.org has an overture count of only 64.

    Advertising. I don't use Overture.

Overture???? why would anyone type php.org in overture. Overture is very misunderstood, and too many people rely on their results. You don't need overture to tell you PHP is an awesome search term. Thats a given.

Try PHP in google. PHP.org is on the first page.

It is true that not many people use overture to search, but we can extrapolate the overture count to give us an estimate of the number of type-ins.

Yes, obviously php is a highly searched term, the question is how many type-ins does php.org get.

OK... it looks like php.org gets the bulk of its traffic from Google (and perhaps Yahoo, which uses Google) . I am now less skeptical of the $3000/month. I would like to comment, however, that type-in traffic is much preferred to search engine traffic, because it is more stable. I think DnPowerful would agree to this. Search engine traffic is much riskier because you are dependent upon the vagaries of the search engine algorithms.

PHP.org was getting 2,000 uniques/day before it ever showed up in a search engine.

Oveture doesnt track what people type in the browser as a URL, it only tracks what people type in as search terms at overture and their partners...Their results are only a fraction of internet traffic..their results need to be multiplied to represent the whole interent...by what number I do not know...

In summation, overture does not represent actual type-in numbers...and it never will..its a search engine, not a browser address window.

It appears that there does not exist a "magic constant" = K s.t:

    # of type-ins = K * (overture count).

I had a domain ********.com that had an overture count of 153, and got about 150 type-ins a day, yet php.org has an overture count of 64, and gets 2000 type-ins a day (according to Greg).

In most of the cases I would typein first the .com but in this
case looking for info etc. I would prob try first .org and I have
a feeling many others would do the same...just a thought..
