    Domain Name Appraisal Summary

    Domain Name: claims.us
    CMV: $ 29,900.00
    PMV: $114,800.00
    Date Completed: MAY 1/2002

The following is your domain name appraisal for the domain name, claims.us completed on MAY 1/2002.
Your domain name has been appraised based on its performance in four categories; Commercial Development Potential, Recognition, Length and Extension Value (click on any of these categories for more information).

The average mark from these categories is then compared to both recent comparable sales values and, more importantly, the particular market referenced by the domain name (e.g books, books about dogs, books about cocker spaniels, etc.).

ALL VALUES STATED ARE IN US DOLLARS.

From this is derived the CURRENT MARKET VALUE (CMV) and the POTENTIAL MARKET VALUE (PMV) of your domain name.

The CMV is the amount which would be considered fair if neither buyer nor seller are unduly motivated.
The PMV is what you may expect if your name were to meet up with ideal market conditions (e.g. non-trademark infringing and essential for particular market) .

EchoArts.com does not perform trademark searches as part of the appraisal process, and each name is valued on its own merits.
You can perform your own search by clicking here: TM Search

These values do NOT guarantee that your domain name will automatically fetch either your CMV or your PMV, however they are qualified parameters of expected value in either scenario.

The following is your detailed appraisal.

    claims.us

    Commercial Development Potential: 40/50
    Recognition: 38/50
    Length: 44/50
    Extension Value: 45/50

    CMV: $ 29,900.00
    PMV: $ 114,800.00

Notes: An estimated 139,200 searches each month for this term. Exceptionally brandable for any related US site. Intuitive and simple with strong recall value.

That's seems high but that is a very good domain name. I'd rate your name as really excellent. I wonder how they would rate ass.us.

I have a couple interested parties - what would be a realistic price to ask? They are not resellers

    Thanks

there are no real metrics yet to determine .us values, so you are pretty much playing a clean sheet game.

claims are a huge industry, and they suit a domestic tld well.

If you have intersted parties, I'd just introduce the appraisal and say that it will influence (but not dictate) your decision to accept or reject any offers made.

I think what safesys said is true. How much does echoarts charge? Are they considered a reputable appraissor? Have any domains sold based on one of their appraisals?

I would think it would have to be speculative.

there were 5,016 searches on overture for claim or claims in april

echoarts has been around for some time, and are a decent enough company to deal with. Their appraisals tend to be at the higher end of the spectrum.

i've used them before, but domains don't tend to sell based solely on an appraisal - its just a tool for negotiation.

    echoarts

    Echoarts
    metrics appraisal - $6.95
    research appraisal - $14.95

I guess I'm trying to determine if they are reputable and accurate.
I've had people tell me the domain name is worth what I paid for it, so I don't know what to believe or what to expect as far as its true value.

Who is the best appraisor then? Anyone know any really good ones? Ones that are valued? Is greatdomains good. I think an appraisal, provided its by someone with a quality reputation, might be helpful to point to in an auction, especially if you are selling for much less.

    tee,
appraisals have not value whatsoever. that went out at least two years ago.
the value is in quality/quantity/type of traffic, and if any of
those are lacking, then it's in the eye of the ignorant buyer.
who has time to think up a good sig ?

appraisals from any company are just a tool to throw into negotiation. the fact its a third party input means it can be used to talk around rather than be treated as an actual hard valuation in the real estate sense.
