Congrats George,
may i ask which service it was that got it for you?
If you are new to domains and looking to buy, sell and learn about domains then you have come to the right place. DNForum is the largest domain name community on the internet and continues to grow every day. There are over 105,000 domainers on DNForum doing everything from buying domains, selling domains, learning about domains and discussing domains. Take a minute and Register.
Register Today on DNForum IT'S FREE!Already received some mega offers for this one. Curious to know what folks think it can be used for, etc.
I was thinking it could be developed into a news portal, with a message forum allowing people to post their own news. CNN might have 1000 reporters, but there are billions of people on the planet.

A revolutionary idea could turn into an editor's nightmare.
A middle of the way option would be to "hire" your volunteer reporters from all over the world after screening them for skill and wit. Are you good with kid sand fledgling writers?
If you would prefer to go the easy way, REPORTER.com would make a fantastic site for reporting news on a corner of the business universe such as domain stats, Holywood news, Legal cases, or any body of niche news that keeps propagating and is useful to read for people n the field.
Alternatively, this could be a resource site, a starting hub, for news reporters.
Good luck on this great one!

NameHoarder.com -yes I am one! "I can't stop registering them!" UGH!
Wow Nicgenie - incredible.
Most of the time they only get middleclass names if at all.
Maybe they have improved?
Hmm....great name anyways.![]()
George my immediate thought was that a major magazine or newspaper would want that name badly. For example, The Miami Herald owns Herald.com and has a great site there. There are many major newspapers named Reporter as well as magazines like the Hollywood Reporter. Few of them are fortunate enough to have a one-word web address that matches their name (for example our Tampa Tribune has to use TampaTrib.com). I think there might be more value to companies like this than to someone developing a site totally from scratch.Originally posted by GeorgeK

Though they have not been big profit centers yet, many major newspapers believe their web sites will eventually be the source of very high revenues. Some already sell online subscriptions and more have moved their real profit centers - classified ads - online.
Good luck with it - it is a real winner.

They picked up grapes.com in the past, too. That was a good name, grrrr. Kudos to Mike Berkens for grabbing it.

what is the highest offer you have got so for for grabbing it?
And.. is nicgenie like snapnames? You pay like $40 and you get a chance that you might get it?
I can't say the number (would want to keep the sales price confidential, out of respect to the buyer, should I ever sell). But, over $10K, obviously.

I would setup something myself, kinda like drudgereport.com
Then put out a press release.

I don't know what the top end of the value range would be but it is WAY beyond 10K. Think of what a major paper pays for every delivery truck in their fleet. This name is worth far more than one delivery truck. It is an asset that is not going to break down in 3 years either!

(It would actually be foolish for him to do so. Why let a potential buyer know how much your cost was on your product?)

great name...........congrats George
first impression on the raw value seems to be in the range of 25k-40k imho considering cams.com went for 35k and grapes.com is available for 25k. that's big money in these times......however, better would be to develop it as some sort of a search engine catering only to the reporting world.
I looked at www.Reporter.org and it seems to be exactly that, a resource site for reporters.
Court-reporters is a big field, so I thought that's another field that might be suitable for the name. $2.04 bid on Overture for "court reporter".

yeah right ...something which is niche and specialized to begin with rather than being general, although the name can accomodate any reporting activity.......certainly you have now got a great purpose at hand to accomplish......good luck!
Someone gave me a good idea --- sell it to Geraldo Rivera!![]()
