Well I think it is a great .US name. In the long run probably well worth 1K - but I would be very careful in making payment. The seller has 0 feedback. I would insist on an escrow service.

Yep, escrow.com..
it's a good name tasso but I think you spent to much this early..
You will have to get it up and running...make it earn it's keep in your portfolio...
You have plans for it?
Tasso, escrow.com all the way. But I think you spent too much on the name.
IMO, the real issue is whether .US is going to make it or not? If one believes that it will, then the name is a bargain for $1K...it'd be just around $8/yr from now on so for next ten years the cost would be $1080!! Just imagine the worth of the name with a successfull tld...or even not so successful one such as sale.net!!Originally posted by 2003
I think you spent too much on the name.
Now, on the other hand, if one feels that the tld will fizzle away then even $100 would be too much...since it'd be all a wash.

Cause, you also thinx "Extension Rating: 2.0" and this may be true for right now but will go up or down depending upon the usage, popularity and hence value of the tld in months/years to come. So, even according to your model and ratings $1K is the correct "retail" price as of now and is likely to increase manyfold if/when the tld catches on, that is.Originally posted by mindful

BTW, anyone knows how well-established the concept of "wholesale" vs. "retail" prices for domains is outside of this forum? i.e. Where else folks deal in domains on a wholesale level?

The reason politics.us sold for that much is that it's related to the context of "US Politics". Now, despite the fact that sale.us is a short, descriptive noun I think that it does not convey - for that price - the same message; that it's a US-related sale of some sort.
I am not saying the domain is not worth a good chunk of money, but the $999 price tag is definitely the retail end.
Don't y'all ever sleep?

well, the "Dollar Values" need to be adjusted as well.
usa.com - high retail = $250,000, reseller = $93,750
usa.info - high retail = $1,450, reseller = $326
usa.biz - high retail = $1,450, reseller = $326
usa.us - high retail = $1,450, reseller = $326
sex.com - high retail = $250,000, reseller = $93,750
sex.info - high retail = $1,450, reseller = $326
sex.biz - high retail = $1,450, reseller = $326
I'd appraise sex.biz at $2-3K for reseller and $5-7K for end user, sex.info at $5-6K for reseller and $10K for end user. The "Dollar Values" has the big gap e.g. composite 4.6 yeilds $15,000 but composite 4.7 yields $100,000-- about 7 times higher ????

Until more compelling data is available for the new tlds (.biz, .info, and .us), we're just fumbling in the dark. (Although, sometimes that can be fun!)
Cheers!
