Are .TV tlds worth anything??

I now that if the word is right like shows.tv, then yes its worth something. But in the long run.....are any of them worth regging???

I think .tv is worth something in media related websites. We all need tv, right?
And when Tuvalu sinks into the pacific ocean, then I think ICANN will re-assign .tv to be a REAL TV extension.

It's possible to make a .tv site successful if you put enough money behind it to promote it - and if you have a fantastic one worder. Otherwise avoid.

You can register .tv for less than $40 at registerfly.com
Mine is LogoDesign.tv - soon to come and i thought it was well worth registering it considering it's the prime searchterm for that industry thus great for searchengines plus provides a style guideline for the site just because of the .tv; which means the site of course will have a TV-ish layout.

The cheapest place that I have actually seen .tv available is at Verisign for $35 a year and at OpenSRS for the same. I recently renewed one of my .tv domains that I'd registered with Verisign a year ago and it only cost me $35 to add the extra year. It's such a pity that .tv cannot be transferred between registrars. I'd really like to transfer out a .tv domain name from OpenSRS.

.tv should sort that out.

We have customers with lots of .tv domains. They are able to phone .tv corp direct and get a discount when they purchase or renew multiple .tv domains.

Does anyone in this thread know anything about .tv 'premium' domains? How open is www.tv to negotiation and how close do they come to getting the prices they list at www.tv?

.tv does not mean TV as in Television...right....I still think alot of people still think the extention relates to television?

.tv is the country code domain for tuvalu, a small pacific island chain of 10,000 people. When country code domains were assigned years ago, nobody knew how valuable domain names were to become.

A us company approached the island with a deal to manage .tv, and rebranded it as a television domain. Smart move, made lots of money, and transformed the gnp of Tuvalu.

I think these domains are perfectly safe and the right domains could be very valuable. There are television related organizations around the world who have re-branded themselves around their .tv domain.

I think the same thing has happened with other tlds. I think Moldova was pushing .md as a domain for doctors, and so on. Poor countries treat the domain name space like they charge airlines for rights to their airspace to make some money
