There are no rules against using .org commercially but it does send the wrong message since it is associated with non-profit groups. Commercial enterprises will go better with .US. However today, .org already has universal recognition while .US has just come out of the gate and must build awareness among the public.

That is why if you were trying to sell a name today it would be easier with .org that .us. I think that will gradually change over the next few years though and for that reason if I were developing a commercial site (rather than just selling a name) I would go ahead and put it on a .US knowing that will be a better business extension for the long haul.

i like .org as a commercial extension personally. i think it has a nice ring to it. My bank uses a .org extension.

To me, .org just has the non-profit label plasterd all of it. With .us, it is more labeled with something to do with United States which has a broader stand point, so I think this extention has more use then .org does...in my opinion.

Once again...time will tell, but it is always good to jump aboard before the time does come
