Example.........would buy.org be more then buy.us???
It all depends upon the application of usage.
Just for a domain resale....in your opinion....which one would you rather buy...... buy.org or buy.us????
I like .org when it is used properly. Buy would be a complete mismatch with the extension. Though .org is much more established now, I would rather have Buy.us. I think .US will be as well known as .org a few years from now and when they are on a more equal footing in terms of recognition, Buy.us would be the better choice since .US does not have the non-profit identity .org does. I buy with a long term view. Those who want to flip a name quickly might have a different view.

No doubt that .org is currently more valuable than .us - but it might change after a while.
.org is a staple in the resale community... .us is a newbie.
If you want instant gratification.... .org (but use it wisely)

Shaggy sorry I totally missed your qualifier about "just for a domain resale" (and gave you a longterm view). For a pure resale today, .ORG is definitely the right choice.Originally posted by Shaggy

Its a country code...who knows. Its really only good to US companies...and is restricted to US comapnaies...
Who Knows...it wont be the next dot-com, if thats what youre asking.

I know in no way anything will match the .coms. I was just curious one what people thought of the .us extention.....
Doberry .US is NOT restricted to only us companys...
not at all.. it INCLUDES any company worldwide that does any business in the us...you have a company in China that sells fireworks, electronics, clothes, services to the US..you can reg a .US etc..

"We are pleased to work with NeuStar to provide .US domain registration in Asian, for those companies who are US companies or doing business closely with US companies," said Mr. Kevin Gong, President of OnlineNIC.com, Inc. "There are more than 33,000 US companies or enterprises plus more than 100,000 US-China jointly owned companies or enterprises in China. In all of Asia, the number is five times greater. We are sure .US domain names will have great demand in Asia."
The "out" is "or enterprises"

The wording is so that they can include and therby accept revenues from damn near anyone..and at the same exclude if any "situation" arises
I know that...Originally posted by bidawinner

In fact, I'm fast to point that out.
But US relations must be strong and founded, or the domain can be taken away.

I have written a great deal about this Shaggy. Just do a Search on my User ID and look through some of the threads. Doberry is correct that NO-ONE can predict the future. However I see a lot of things happening both in the domain business and business in general that leave me feeling confident that .US will have a major impact in a few years.Originally posted by Shaggy

Don't forget the German country code .de is the second most popular extension in the world - far ahead of .net and .org. If a German country code can reach those heights, how high can the country code for the world's largest market - the U.S. go?
Some people say well .com is the US extension. Wrong. That is used all over the world - but more importantly the supply of names is completely exhausted. 4 million new businesses will be formed in the US alone in the next 5 years. They will need domain names that make sense. They will have to look at another extension. .Net is identified with internet infrastructure, .org with non-profits, .info with informational sites, etc. The logical place for them to turn will be .US just as the Germans did with .de.
I also agree with Bob that some may turn to .net due to its familiarity and it will become more of a general term than it is today.
I am betting money on how I think the future will play out - but anyone else's guess is as good as mine. Don't bet anything you can't afford to lose.
I also buy .com .net and .org because you have to have something to sell today too! I am also going to turn more attention to developing names that I have. That is the smartest path of all if you want to build value.

It's like when the .coms first came out.....or the internet. What would you give if you could go back to like 1994 or 95 and buy up all of these great .coms.....(but you would have to pay alot more then you do now.... then -- $70/2 years.....now $8.75/1 year....amazing) That is the same as all of the new extentions...hoping that they become close to or the same value as the .coms.......of course the .coms will reigh over everything, but the fact is that there are more and more people/businesses getting online today that need these domains...no matter what the extention. So I think your right DUKE....this .us and .de have great potiental....I also think that .info is riding up there with the .nets and .orgs today. Only time will tell...

can't a .us be used more freely for a commercial application than .org?
