    Who's buying .us??

"I'll bet you could get 10-20k right now for fish.us

I would estimate its value between $2500 and $5000 dollars. I know some people would think that is on the low end of the scale"

I like the above prices, but who is buying?

Does anybody know any .us domains which have sold for these or any kind of price?

Although I am not aware of any particular sales, I am quite confident they are waiting to happen with the correct marketing.

Auctions don't work for end users.

Using the domain seller pro script from -RJ- with individual pages for each name pointing back to the site is a start.

In addition, either you have to go through a structured process of researching potential end users, or hire a professional name broker who has the routine down. The one I use charges me a flat minimum fee (whether or not it sells) and a percentage of the selling price. That's what I pay for saving me a ton of time and getting me exposure to the end user market. I find the prices received more than make up for the fees.

Also, think more than just cash. Think barter / partnerships / cash.

    Question Professional Name Broker?

    Thanx doc.

What is the script you were referring to?

Professional Name Broker? Who is this, put me in touch if possible.

I thought this forum was full of wannabee professional name brokers.

The script is from -RJ- who is a member on this forum. Check under the "Members" section on the menu bar and send him a pm. He's very helpful.

Also, I'll show these notes to the Name broker mentioned and see if she's interested.

    Hope that helps. Doc

I wish I had all the answers in addition to my positive attitude. However, I will say this. Like any product, domain names require focused marketing in order to achive targeted sales because buyers who before proceeded with blind enthusiasm have opened their eyes and are much more cautious.

First - research. What domain name do you possess? Is it representative of a specific market? If so, are there particular companies you can identify in that market that are not utilizing the internet with a focused domain name?

Second - contact. After locating the companies in question, establish contact with their advertising executives, or with the ceo. Write a letter, and then follow up with emails and phone calls. Keep your letter simple and straightfoward. You might want to attach articles about successful domain name use to support your marketing pitch.

Third - advertise. You should use the site to sell the domain, as well as advertising on message boards, third party brokers (if you can handle the brokerage commissions), and in print media. I think a heavy emphasis on print media marketing will pay off. Most industry executives rely on print classifieds for business information, and they do read the classifieds. An advertisement in a trade magazine or newspaper will increase the sales potential of a targeted name.

Those are my thoughts for now. I hope that helps. There is no secret. Just be straightforward. If you have a short targeted name it helps immensely, but if you can convince someone of the superiority of a longer variation of a root name then you might succeed that way.

    Peace

    great advice

    Hi
    That's a marvelous, detailed reply.

The things you outline all Seem like a lot of work, and some cost for an uncertain result, but I suppose one has to make the judgement as to whether or not the domain is worth it.

Have you tried all of the above yourself, with success?

First, you are right. What I outlined is a lot of work. Then again, if you really want to get multiple thousands of dollars for a domain name, then you need to market it and the hard work you put in should help get a better return.

Second, I am trying what I outlined above. I practice what I preach. It has not paid off yet, but I remain confident. My previous post did nothing more than state the obvious tried and true process of marketing new products to established business.

    Good luck

I have heard of very few professional brokers, but mostly worthless auction and brokering sites for selling names.

If in fact she makes money from a personal name brokering business why in the world would she not be interested? Just wondering. Please have the broker contact me too.

It seems like she would want a free plug here with her contact info given to get more business rather than email or PM. Can you imagine how much business and money she would get if it was made public and she really was successful at it?

I'm using the script at adoptabledomains.com. Works great, coming from a very satisfied user.

BTW, to answer the question, RJ has it available at prophp.com.

    Cool registering or aftermarket?

    Hi dobery

You mean registering .us. or buying in the aftermarket?

If the latter, what's he bought and for how much?
