I was thinking this is the perfect domain for any American living overseas to use or for some proud domestic southerner. Then again maybe a player or fan of the NYY would like this, anyways what are your thoughts on use and value of this name?

Like most domain hacks, under $500 unless it is a marketable product. Difficult to market Yankee to anyone but the copyright holder. The generic term isn't a product or commodity like food, homes or money.

This one works a bit better than most domain hacks because the part to the left of the dot is a word in its own right--"Yank" (short for "Yankee" in some circles).

I really like the domain name for aesthetic reasons, but I sincerely doubt an end user exists who will buy it. Forget appraisals. Let's talk practically. How does the end-user sale happen? Hardly any business person even knows about the .ee ccTLD; so nobody outside the domain industry is going to think of this on their own. And they're not going to see this elegant (Yes, I think its' gorgeous) domain name listed anywhere because regular businessmen don't hang out on sedo scanning lists of domain names. This means they're not going to approach YOU.

But, if nobody's going to come knocking on your door, who is your target company? Whom do YOU approach? "Yankee" isn't a product. The sports team doesn't need this domain either. It would be a miracle if you found some expat right on the verge of starting the blog you describe--AND you convince them to adopt your Yank.ee brand ... AND you're so persuasive that they pay hundreds of dollars to use it for their personal unprofitable blog.

Yes, I think this is a great domain name. It belongs in a museum for connoisseurs like us to enjoy. But no end-user buyer will come to you. And you have nobody to approach. The annual renewal rate for .ee is probably rather high as well. I don't know, since I don't even know what country it belongs to.

My advice: You're taking a big chance on this one. I've done similar things ... with similar results. Try to sell it off at what you paid for it. Or drop it. Or ... (because I think it's a really superb brand name) build your own website and use this as your own brand. If your website is good, then having this really memorable brand name will help you.

.ee - it's Estonian domain, renewal depends on registrar, but usually $25-30 per year.

I did overlook one point: If you can manage to contact players for the Yankees, they have the money to pay for vanity domain names. You might be able to leverage their vanity and competitiveness since there is only 1 such domain name (and many of them) and get them to compete for it. But professional athletes and celebrities are probably not the easiest people to get in touch with.

Appraisals are meaningless, though, in the absence of an economic demand. You and I both know that there is no "inherent" market for Yank.ee. So unless you create the impression in the minds of your potential buyers that there IS a demand that is bigger than the supply, then you won't be able to ask for much money.

When I say that appraisals are meaningless for domains like this, I'm not saying the domains don't have value. Yours does. But it's much more subjective than objective. And I'd prefer to discuss marketing strategy than to debate what dollar amount a domain name will sell for when there is no market for the commodity in question. If you get someone who is interested and has the funds to pay a few hundred, congratulate yourself on that profit. Then move on. If you can successfully sell this domain to a nonexistent market, then you have what musicians call "chops" as a salesman! And you should then turn your attention to selling domains that are ALREADY in demand.

Sorry for writing 3 posts on this, but I really like your domain name as a name. And I'd like to see someone use it.

As an electrical engineer, I should probably point out that EE has a meaning of its own. One demographic you probably haven't considered is electrical engineers in the American South. Perhaps some student or professional organization might take an irrational liking to the domain, as you and I both have. If you search for "southern engineering" or "georgia tech", that might reveal some possible candidates.

If you try email marketing on this one, my advice is to keep the message short and sweet. No arm-twisting because all arguments to buy this domain are going to fall flat (because they don't make sense). Just appeal to the person's eyeballs. As follows:
