Well for me its great that someone else can see potential for mobile domains other than simply parking and PPC.

2 of the 3 mobi's I bought are up and running, ihotels.mobi and idownloads.mobi. Even had a mid $XXX offer for one of them, though at this moment in time, I am not really looking to sell them.

    Agreed aggie !
Will be of great interest. I really want to develop a couple of mine , quickly & dirt cheap. I have very basic skills as you'll see if you visit my site below!
It's temporary until my developer can get at.
Anyone got any suggestions on how to knock up a .mobi site dead quick?
Anyone done one at GoDaddy Hosting?
    Cheers, Pred

Quickest and easiest way would be to use of the pre-existing templates offered by the .mobi corp.

You can find them at: http://pc.mtld.mobi/community/content_devforum.html

On the right side, are two option - Narrow and Wider .Mobi Template.
Just unzip them, place your content, make any colours changes if you want, and upload. They look very basic, but are very useful as a way to make up .mobi compliant sites very quickly.

    Good luck

    3Dgeek

TO do simple one page site using these templates, use the one named index.xhtml.

Open this using whatever program you use for webdesign. If you dont use one, simply open it up using Notepad.

When you start looking at the code, you will see that there are comments inside, which you can use as a guide to what bit of the code does what.

All you really need to do is change the content from whats in the code to what you want on your page.

Once that is done, simply upload the file to your server/host and bingo - you have a webpage up for your .mobi domain.

.mobi aside, how can you think that little commerce will be done on mobile devices in the future? The younger generations are all growing up with mobile devices, the devices keep getting better, internet coverage is increasing, rates are generally dropping, etc etc. It just seems to make sense that more, not less, commerce will be done on mobile devices in the future. Similar to how 15 years ago there was no online commerce, now it's in the billions and rising every year.

I hope and think you are right HugeGrowth...

For the ones not convinced about .mobi:
Don't think about how mobile devices are used now. Really delete your memory and facts about the now.

Only think about how mobile devices will be used in the future...

Any idea why your gamble.mobi did not get in?

I am dissapointed that my one did not make it into either auction also, as i have a private buyer but have now given Moniker an exclusive to sell it for 180 days...
perhaps they did not get my contract??

I imagine they will be too busy for a while sorting out all these sales to be able to talk to us!
