A great article in itself about mobile internet, mobile banking etc.
I like this bit:
"Mobile banking basically works two ways--either through the Web browser on your phone or special software that you download. Bank of America and Wachovia both offer a browser-based service, which is a simplified version of the online site that fits within a cell phone and PDA screen. Any customer that has Internet access on their cell phone can log on to their accounts by typing the banks URL -- bofa.mobi or wachovia.mobi -- into their mobile browser."
ba da ba ba baa! i'm lovin' it
Holy shit! Praise be to .mobi.

why do they need .mobi for it?
they can use mobile.bofa.com or mobile.wachovia.com into mobile

My God, I certainly hope no one from Bank of America is on this forum.
It would be a shame for them to read all the anti mobi sentiment?
What would the #1 bank in the US and #12 on the Fortune 500 do?
Fold? The realization that they have registered a mobi and created a free standing mobi site would surely become the embarrassment of all the global financial markets.
Before that happens, I want to open the bidding up for BofA.mobi at $10.00.
I think I could sell this early 21st century icon to the same casino that bought the Grilled Cheese sandwich with the face of the Virgin Mary on it. That brought $15,000.00.
Hell, I'm so close to Charlotte I can run down to their world headquartes, snap a photo of the building, buy a likeness of it as a miniature pewter bank, and include that in the deal.
Let the bidding begin for what is destined to be the laughing stock of the internet and the world for this iconic domain name. Bidding will end promptly Friday June 29 at 10pm. That will give all of you who will be standing in line at the AT&T stores or Apple stores plenty of time make your purchase and try it out in this once in a lifetime opportunity to own this domain name.
Please understand that I do not currently own this domain name but once those cybersquatters give it up I am laying claim to it. Your bid is to out bid my claim.
I love how the clock ticks down that more and more press releases come out from none other than...APPLE! I saw the cute little image of the .com button on the keyboard above. Looks like you'll be pressing it and pressing it and pressing it:
estimated load time for Yahoo...2 minutes.
Hope your not a subscriber to Yahoo mail. By the time you get to read it, Debbie would have done run off with the plumber, the pick up truck and the dogs.
Here's the latest:

iPhone 'Surfing'
On AT&T Network
Isn't Fast, Jobs Concedes
In an interview on the eve of the iPhone launch, Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs and AT&T Inc. CEO and Chairman Randall Stephenson addressed concerns that the device will have slow Internet access on AT&T's cellular network.
Now are we to trust WSJ.com? Sure. It is a dot com.
So when you buy it, do try to surf the web on it. See how long DNForum.com loads.
It's been fun, I worked last night, gotta go to bed.
Tomorrow we can figure out what will kill mobi.
And as someone pointed out, the Brit calendar has 31 days in June. Surely, if that were to come to pass that we indeed will experience this strange event, then I would agree that we can call the .mobi officially dead. I will concede to you, surrender my domains and my soul to eternal domaindamnation.com.
i dont see much bashing for other tlds as much as mobi, end of the day
if dot mobi came out before dot com then we all be using dot mobi and
youll be saying there is no need for dot com.
if the word dot mobi is made aware and advertised to the public that its safe to
use and you can browse the internet fast using your mobiles & pda's then the
dot mobi will succeed.
it dosnt matter what we domainers say, its down to the public to believe in it
if they believe in the tld and the tld has been marketed properly with big
companies backing it then its going to succeed even if you dont think we need it.
now the one thing what will hapen if the mobi takes over as the mobile internet
they will get most of the mobile traffic and dot com will get less.
i prefer dot coms but there is room for one more and its for the mobile internet.
Peace.

That is what speculation is all about. Sometimes it pays off, others it doesn't.
Also wanted to add that no one types in .net or .org when typing names into a browser, unless they are looking for a specific site they have already been too. For type in, its .com or nothing basically.
