VideoMatch.mobi is still very much work in progress, but I'd appreciate any comments on what's been done so far!
Thanks!

Nice! Is this a matching-date service concept.
Very cool. See your date before you meet them.
Damn...mobi is fun isn't it?
Yes Doc, it's intended to be a matching/dating thing that works on video (3G) phones with video being able to be viewed either over the networks (live person-to-person) with an appropriate phone, or by wifi streaming. The first is very simple, but the wifi part is a little more difficult.
I'm currently looking at the video formats for the most popular phones, and then device recognition at the server end and the implementation of ffmpeg to decode and stream. The cool thing about being able to use wifi is of course the cost saving on high-tariff carriers, plus in this case one doesn't need a dual-camera phone. Just pop into Starbucks and check your video matches while you check email etc. Or just do it at home on your own wifi connection.
Notifications will be done by SMS with formed URLs to click to watch the videos.
All while trying to keep within .mobi guidelines![]()
I got the idea here: www.date line.co.uk/mobile (remove the space).
The market is huge in SE Asia for this type of thing and that's where I plan on launching it. I'm negotiating for translations into Mandarin and Bahasa which would cover me in China, HK, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and English speakers in The Philippines.
Of course it will work in any English-speaking country, but Asia is where I plan to spend the marketing dollars.
Thanks both for looking!
Great concept, tough to pull off perhaps, lots of work. So glad to see someone like you and a few others to grasp the idea that the internet is global and not just for the english speaking nations.
Keep it up. Concepts are ideas waiting to be developed.
