Does DotMobi allow us to use frames or not? -What is the truth?

    What is the truth?

    Hi

It is a commonly said, even in publications, that DotMobi does not allow frames.

It is even being circulated that if you use frames your .mobi can be taken away from you! (revoked)

    Is this true?

    However,

On taking a closer look at the latest statement in the mtld.mobi switch on guide it says:

[dotMobi] Do not use frames (standard or inline) unless the target client is known to support them.

Unless the target client is known to support them? That means frames is OK?!
Because the latest PDA's with Windows Mobile Browser supports frames, but just not the iframe at the moment.

But can't even the Iframe be useful? (Like an Amazon.com affiliate link?)

    But what is the truth?

    Regards,

You can't be serious. READ http://pc.mtld.mobi/mobilenet/dotmobi_guides.html and please stop spreading stupid rumors. Pay special attention to absolute requirements VS. suggested practiced.

.mobi sites will not be taken from you for your bad coding.

1% of current mobil devices may be able to use a frame tag. I belive most of them support xhtml-mp. Stick to xhtml-mp and you'll be within the guidelines.

Re: Does DotMobi allow us to use frames or not? -What is the truth?

I brought this up for the benefit of everyone else

I am asking questions not making statements not spreading rumors..

    "What is the truth"

Already I've noticed different responses coming in to me..

So it appears many of us need to be clearer about it, so this thread is "serious".

    .
The dotmobi names shall not be deleted from the registration system, but their name will be placed on hold until they are in compliance with the mandatory rules.

I hope this thread helps to spread awareness for important issues that have been kept in the closet..

On a macro level, although frames might be labeled obsolete, the iframe can be valuable - like if I want to have an Amazon.com product for sale on my site for an affiliate opportunity and their code is an Iframe..

Why shouldn't this be allowable some day?

    Regards,
