    Frank disses .mobi at Domainfest

Not one house bid for a .mobi at the live auction. Only bids from a hidden online bidder. .mobi sucker supply is dwindling.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Frank is just another domainer!

Frank Schilling came into the domain industry about 5 years ago, correct?

So he never saw the opportunity to buy .com domains within the first years of release?

How many .com domains does Frank own now? 250,000? Why is he going to 'big up' .mobi when he is a .commie???

What does Frank know about the birth of the Internet? Was he one of the innovators of .com's early success?

How many years 'after' the birth of .com did he see the potential to take advantage of it's traffic?

What does Frank know about .mobi?

Does he have a crystal ball for the future of the mobile web?

Does he know what companies, who built their real world presence without a .com on the end, are going to do when advertising their mobile websites (if they choose to do so)?

How many of Frank's 250,000 domains are mobile compliant on every single mobile device out there?

Is it even healthy to own so many of the world's domains names?

Is he really setting an example for us all to follow?

What plans does he have for all those 250,000 domain names most being .com? Super domain parking pages? Sites to target the millions of mobile web users out there?

Is it healthy in the 21st century to preserve and protect an antiquated establishment such as monarchy?

Frank is an entrepreneur. He's not the only voice but he's definitely a compass, indicating the industry's direction.

Frank makes a lot of money by being a .commie (haven't heard that since the Commodore 64 days, when ZX Spectrum users were set against the evil machine) and I think that's good enough to answer the rest of your questions.

End of the day, no it's not a good enough answer to all my other questions.

The Internet is NOT just about MONEY for God's sake!

    Open your mind.

He saw the opportunity to make shed loads of money from an already established .com!!! Big deal!

What exactly do you wish I'd open my mind to? I am here, on DNForum, to make money.

It's irrelevant whether the Internet is a tool to communicate or to make money, or to argue in 200 different languages.

The domain market has been following the trends Frank utilizes to make the most out of it. I don't want to twist a working paradigm. Re-inventing the wheel is something that eventually costs time and money.

The fact that you think because Frank makes a lot of money being a .commie answers all of my other questions.

Commie stands for communist, a derogatory term (even to the real communist ideology followers).

And yet, you use the same term to describe a successful individual who employs a definite non-communist, capitalist technique in order to succeed.

So you think the Internet is a free-for-all? Because that'd be the real commie approach

don't be so sure about that.
    mymobile.mobi sold for $15500US

The usual pump and dump crew are still hard at work. But seeing those really in the know are avoiding it more and more speaks volumes. But I'm sure the usual suspects will now post a long string of the same companies who are using mobi...

Greg, recent history has proven Frank's ignorance with respect to .mobi

It is understandable Frank, and other mobiphobics are threatened by .mobi.

Fear & ignorance induce vitriol & dissing.

I enjoy watching the mobiphobes foam at the mouth and attack .mobi like immature kids -- the attacks are a very good sign for dotMobi investors.

Here is an analogy, lets say you are at a fine restaurant sitting with a Pamela Anderson look-a-like and your wife or girlfriend walks in and sees you flirting with the Pamela clone...what happens? Anger, dissing & attacks ensue by aforementioned girlfriend or wife

OK. Now lets say your wife or girlfriend catches you flirting with a Rosie
O'Donnell look-a-like....what happens? Satisfaction. Your wife or girlfriend is happy as a child on Christmas morning.

    Similar in politics...

Obama becomes a superstar and the Clintons feel threatened.

In turn, the Clintons express anger, by attacking, dissing and throwing mud at Barack while they let John Edwards be because they don't see Edwards as a threat.

On the Republican side, Mitt leads and now everyone else on the GOP side feels threatened so they diss him and throw everything, but the kitchen sink at him.

In the domain industry...all these self-appointed philosopher kings "diss dotMobi" because of an increasing threat due to the "sex appeal" and success of the .mobi extension

Do you see this same MobiHate Club diss .eu or .tv or .info...No, No, No.

Why? Because these "plain janes" are not a threat

I realize the "so-called experts," often get things wrong.

Experts who said dotMobi had zero chance. And after a rocky college career, 6th round pick Tom Brady inevitably no future NFL career. The 1980 Miracle On Ice. All the experts who said to buy homes in 2006 and tech stocks in 2000.

It seems silly now. It was taken as gospel then.

    So lesson to all now.

Be very careful when the "conventional wisdom" say something is inevitable, like the death of dotMobi. It rarely is.

And as they say, history is defined not by things we expected, but by things we did not.

We know that. But we forget that.

Like the boxer playing it safe because he's ahead on all the judges' scorecards going into the final round, then ends up getting knocked out in the final round. Like IBM dismissing Microsoft in the 1970s. And Microsoft dismissing Google in the 1990s.

Until they don't. And the game plays on. Only this time without them, the dotMobi naysayers, playing in it.

    Stay tuned...

Vision I got tired of reading your post after 2 sentences. Can you tell me why there were only 2 online bidders for one "premium" .mobi and only one of those 2 bidders that bid on any of the other "premium" .mobis? And how did .mobi bidders crash the sedo auction servers just a few weeks ago? Something is not adding up here.

Dont you have to carry that conspiracy over to an infamous .mobi sale that " kick started " it all ?

Or do you think the .mobi startups recruit different people all the time ?

The menace of our information society is that there is too much information and it's retained for too little.

Indeed, anyone complains about the sedo server crash / .mobi auction fiasco anymore? How about the recent NetSol front-running scandal? Any more outrage?
