It's Propoganda. Pretty much freely admitted in the summary of the author below:
dotMobi
This blog is about the business and pleasure of mobile content, hosted by executives and partners behind dotMobi, a joint venture established to support and promote the .mobi Internet domain for mobile content. Learn more at http://mtld.mobi/.
Personally, I love it because it exposes Verizon and their objection to .mobi for what it really is, what I've been saying all along... .mobi is COMPETITION
Verizon is ALREADY doing what I've been saying .mobi will be... a default, pre-determined extension within their network on which they can sell advertising and exclusivity to high paying customers and partners.
The institution of .mobi means that while Verizon has been selling exlcusive access to the largest mobile network in the Country, the advent of a "partnered" .mobi effort means that now Verizon is competing against EVERYONE for that mobile marketplace.
And no... they're not happy about it.
I love that Verizon isn't happy about it... because it lends credence to the theory (and what I think is the real reality behind dot mobi) that the Mobile Internet will be an advertising and revenue platform built within the mobile networks that will increase profitability and lower our usage costs, allowing for more airtime, flat rate data usage and more content.
Verizon says the only reason they bought the .mobi extension was to protect their trademark from squatters. I only half believe that... I think they are hedging their bet.
Because when the ad boom hits the mobile internet, Verizon will belly up to the bar.

I'm a supporter of .mobi, but not propaganda.

I read both positive and negative articles about .mobi.
Being that I learned something new by reading the above referenced article, I consider it a good read.
It’s called educating one’s self.![]()
