I hope its not WorldCup2010Tours.mobi or you're screwed... I sold off my LLL.mobis early and 2 generics. I may only have 1 or 2 left in my portfolio just in case. Which I held out a bit longer... but what can you do huh
Man...I really hope you are right...I don't own any mobis...never liked them, but have a huge suspicion they will be dead in 6-8 years, simply because of the evolution of cell phones.. iPhone was first.
My thoughts on this are mixed. In 10 years .mobi could be one of the biggest flops, sometimes it's best to strike while the iron is hot. The world is frenzied about .mobi right, in 10 years there will be 10 new extensions and someone else might have the spotlight then so it's a tough call.
For me, I would sell all of mine today for the right offer based on current market conditions. The time is right now.
IMO it's just like waiting for your .biz or .name to gain value but what do I know![]()

.mobi was a flop from the start. New extensions are almost like a pump and dump scam, you get everyone excited about it so that they register 100 domains at $20 each and then it doesnt go anywhere. Sure, you're going to have sales of the premium terms but they didnt even give us a chance to reg those on our own, they keep them to themselves. So they've made money on the 2,000,000+ .mobis that are reg'd plus the money off the premiums they kept and auctioned off. What do they care if they fail?
I agree. You always have to sell when the market is right, that goes for anything. You're going to hold onto them for 10 years and then try to sell them? I think the answer will be...what is a .mobi?
Lets analyze the facts to determine if dotMobi is a flop...
1.) When was dotMobi introduced to the public?
.mobi was introduced in September 2006
.tv in 1996 (11 years old)
.info in 2001 (6 years old)

Lastly the country codes. With the exception of two 6 figure sales, the range was $10-$85k. That also included .cc, .tv IDN and some 335 individual country codes competing for this spots. Im sure you're saying that because you spent a lot of money on them. You could make a nice little presentation for any extension, including .name. You forgot the $400,000 .mobi sale by the one and only. Don't "seel" your .mobis, but I think you guys are getting false hope.
.mobi is a flop to a certain percentage of domainers, I don't know whether this is a minority or a majority, but some domainers never liked it from the start. As for the real world, many businesses seem to be using .mobi for their mobile sites, and the general population doesn't care, they will use it if it is marketed to them and it's a site they want to go to. Look at last night's domain sales report at dnjournal and see what .mobi's are going for.
If these premium .mobi auctions had flopped, and businesses weren't using .mobi on the scale they are, then yes I'd say .mobi has flopped. But that isn't the case.

He is the most succesful seller of .info domains on the planet.
Great. Justin, a hearty congratulations regarding your .info sales.
Justin is a proven .info investor/advocate.
However, Justin certainly does not want to see this new popular kid, MOBI, further interfere and mitigate his future 2008, 2009 .info sales.
But, is .info necessary?
.info is a long 4 character extension!
.info is a pump & dump scheme, just ask Justin.
The .info registry is just making boatloads of cash via registrations.
Why do we have to use .info when we already have .com?

I'm sure those keywords would probably sell in any new extenstion created now or in the future....at least until domainers and big biz get tired of buying all the same keywords!
I think Steve Jobs ruined the hopes of many .mobi speculators when the iphone came out and it had a .com site on the phone, rather than .mobi
had it been the other way around....who knows
