Tonight .mobi raked in $300K+ in sales and was the 2nd most popular extension among bidders. There were no 6-figure sales but there apparently weren't any endusers bidding as there was in the last auction (1-800-Flowers). Huge success overall IMO. Here are some auction stats to ponder:

Europe.mobi was an absolute steal but i never really took to cams.mobi so i'm not surprised really! Maybe next time Pred you could be there with hookers on both arms waving your paddle about! LOL

No doubt buyers of .mobi picked up some fair investments in this auction.
Whomever got directions(mobi) got an absolute CRACKER! location-navigation is perfectly suited for .mobi,because their is so much development AND investment ongoing in that sector.
mTLD could have done more to promote .mobi to end users and developers imo, hopefully they will learn from this in time for their next sale.

Without full 3G infrastructure in US, GB, Canada, Australia and New Zealand .mobi is not going to skyrocket in value. IMO
We may have to wait longer for good returns.

I was shocked to hear about europe.mobi. I knew that it was listed near the end of the queue and was surprised to see it "sold". Is this an error?
Europe.mobi was listed, fourth from the end.
I heard on webmasterradio.fm that the room had to be cleared so the live auction had to stop; but and if there were any names that were bidded and did not make reserve, the auctioneer would accept bids in the hallway. AND...he further said the rest of the names will be available in the silent auction area.
I knew that Europe.mobi owner, stipulated that if it was presented at silent, it held a much much higher reserve if sent to silent area.
This doesnt sound fair to the owner for a name to be presented in an unofficial non-live area (in the hallway???). It was my presumption that only names that were given an opportunity to the general live audience earlier were or could be re-opened for bidding in the hallway.
I find this very disturbing.

Some time ago I checked the whois for this one and thought about how fortunate the person was who got it, how extraordinary this one was, and the potential it contained.
I assume this is also contractually binding upon the seller then as well? I'm afraid I'm not up on the rules for this program.
