The sex industry is one area where .mobi could be a gold mine.

Since my post will likely get deleted on NPs I'll post it here.

You guys are .mobi delusional. Do you really think many people will pay to look at porn on a 2" cellphone screen? Do you think many people will even consider looking for porn on cellphone? Porn on a cellphone is the worst possible fit. People should wait until they get home to get their jollies anyway. Bathroom stalls are for one purpose.

I'm going with Greg on this one. Out of all the potential uses for .mobi, this is probably the worst. Any phone that even has built in support for sex movies (java, flash, framework) is also going to have built in support for a web browser, which means regular browsing on the internet, .com's included.

You may be better off registering coldshower.info and selling to a user searching for .mobi porn, who ends up with nothing.

The only things I would do with a mobile while on the move:
access my E-mail or bank account
    check my domain auctions
    find a taxi
    book a table
Desktop is more comfy for surfing.
With present technology consumers can only be frustrated with tiny screens and mini keyboards. IMO it is naive to assume that consumers are willing to do anything via mobile. The implication is that only certain types of domain keywords have a future if any.

I also find it unlikely that a lot of people will watch porn on their cell phone, but then again there is porn for the Ipod and PSP.

Wow, is that really huge news? The sex industry is a gold mine? It's the oldest form of exploitation and domain monetization (pun intended).

Having said that, porn on cell phones are old school in loads of places. I agree it could be a moneymaker in time, but in the mean time, lots of other ways to make money.

Greg, there is life beyond good old Texas.

Not sure if this news has reached your parts, yet, but have you folk heard of Mobile TV? Ever heard of a place called South Korea? or Japan?

If not, I suggest you take a trip. Porn on mobile TV phones is everywhere! The Koreans & Japanese love their CellTv Porn.

Mobile TV porn will become increasingly popular in the U.S.

    Alert the Puritans!

Porn is coming to a 3.5 inch screen near you!

Maybe so. .mobi is not a factor in either case and it won't be in the future. Thin is not in for porn.

You Know what's funny with all the .mobi hype. If you really believed in the future of your mobi investments and because of this are interested in investing more and if you are SMART, you would be keeping your mouth shut about how great it is. Seems like there are only three possible reasons to constantly push an exstension soooooo much.

    1. you are just a nice guy trying to share the wealth you see coming down the line.
    2. you want to attract fish so that you can dump your names on them.
    3. you are not the sharpest tool (or perhaps you are just that, a sharp TOOL) and don't realize that you are just increasing your own competition the more you flap your lips about how great it is.

Obviously the most nobile scenario is #1, but even if that is your only motivation you would be wise to kick it down a few notches. If you REALLY believe the ext is better than sex, why alert the world to it? You'd be much better served just quietly accumulating names as the market grows around you.

    # 2 is the ticket. The problem is that even if this current crop of .mobi fanatics dump all their .mobis on other forum members, they create another crop of .mobi fanatics.

Talking Re: The sex industry is one area where .mobi could be a gold mine.

as usual the truth is somewhere in the middle
adult content will be huge on mobiles. it is already very popular in the UK
you don't need .mobi to access it either, congratulations
all it does is guarantee it is compliant & ensures a pleasant browsing experience. it's also about branding. maybe it will sink in sometime with you guys.
lastly, if you don't think teenagers & for that matter a lot older guys don't share & show adult content on their phones, then you are either too old or need to get out more.
it is hard to go into bars & not see guys showing clips of porn & falling about laughing.
when surfing is cheaper & more widespread on mobiles , it will happen more, obviously.
no, it doesn't have to be .mobi, fearless just chose to start a thread suggesting people think that. it would be nice if that was the popular conception
also fearless, if the only people who view adult content on a mobile device will need to sneak off to the bathroom to 'drain one off' , that's a little more info than we need thanks LOL
maybe an insight into your routine?

What do you do after you share adult content with your buds?

Poker, this is a freakin dotMOBI subforum.

DNForum created this place for individuals to dialogue about MOBI.

Are we instead supposed to talk about nanotechnology, vectors or poker here in the MOBI forum?

Read the headlines of this MOBI subforum....

Visa invests 7 figures in MOBI

    Ford launches their dotMOBI

FoxNews launches their MOBI, etc, etc.

Poker, we are reporting and discussing dotMOBI news via this forum, it's up to the reader to decide if he/she wants to invest and develop within the MOBI namespace.

If you don't like our MOBI reports & opines, turn the channel, or go traffic in the .ws subforum.

Well, there are possible explanations why MobiPhobics decide to slither around this MOBI forum:

1.) They are Masochists. The mobiphobics derive pleasure from being humiliated by another or by oneself. They have a willingness or tendency to subject themselves to things they despise, things like dotMOBI.

2.) They need to throw cold water on MOBI because they see an imminent threat. Certain people make under the disguise of constructive criticism with the intension to make MOBI look bad because they consider MOBI a threat to their already established websites and PPC income. They certainly don’t want to lose any visitors to MOBI and the more potential a new extension might have to become successful the more it will be the subject of their constant attacks.

3.) They are investors attempting to talk down the market.

    Look, time is money.

If MOBI is the devil.... Would guys earning 6 & 7 figures each year waste their valuable time shooting the shit for hours about MOBI in a little ol dotMOBI subforum?

Answer: NO way! Therefore, they linger around here talkin down the market, so they can buy low, develop and sell high.

Do you see MobiPhobics like Acro, Fearless, Labrocca, Duckinla and others consistently mock, hyperventilate, protest and bad mouth .eu, .info, .org, .cc, .biz .ws or the other 250 domain extensions?

    Answer: NO

WHY: Because 10 month old MOBI is the most successful domain extension to emerge since .com

I'm sure we have all done this, Forget our cell phone at a friend or relatives home, a business clients office, in one of the pew's at your Church, only to have someone pick it up and start pushing buttons to find out who's it is, I dont know about you guys, but a mobile phone is the LAST device in the world I would EVER consider downloading porn too.

And as for Pokers post, well I have to go with #2.

Regardless of the domain extension, there's always going to be a massive market for mobile porn. That's the way it is. Whether YOU (generally speaking -- no particular individual) or I indulge is really of no consequence. There are millions that do, and always will be.

Re: The sex industry is one area where .mobi could be a gold mine.

My opinion is that .mobi will never reach its potential, regardless of the investments made by VISA or Larry Flynt, there are just too many issue~small screen, personal exposure (to Raider's point), and new device technologies around the corner eliminating any need for specific TLD .... .mobi is .dead.

BTW, does anyone know if someone like Larry Flynt loaded up on .mobi's. ??? I personally doubt it.
