    Sold Pandemicflu.mobi

Just a quick comment.. I've sold 2 mobi's so far. I sold Pandemicflu.mobi for $2,500.00 and Bankplus.mobi for $3,000.00. I only paid $30.00 for each of them just 10 months ago. Making 90 times your money in 10 months isn't bad

The only reason I'm telling you all this is because I know you're the appraisel experts and this sort of information might be useful for appraising mobi's in the future.

Congrats on your sale how many mobis did you reg 10 months ago, you have to subtract that from your equation, if you just regged 2 then I would say you are doing great

    Re: Sold Pandemicflu.mobi

That's a good point, I bought around 100 names and spent approximately 3k. Although, I play a slightly different game than you all. I went for mobi's with trademarks and for mobi's that already had an established .com. Since mobi's will be secondary sites to the .coms. it makes sense that any reputable .com will soon want their .mobi. People will not want to launch a .mobi as their primary website name, so if there's not already a .com in place, the mobi could be worthless being that they're, again, secondary websites. Somebody bought pandemicflu.mobi from me because of Pandemicflu.gov, and you can go to Bankplus.com to see who bought my Bankplus.mobi. The .mobi boom of 2008 will be like the .com boom of many years ago, once these corp's start trying to obtain their mobi's.

Although I bought most of the banks (because of online banking) and lot of the fortune 500 companies I'm not worried legal action over trademarks. I can strike a settlement deal fairly easy if need be. I suppose I tend to get a little ruthless...

Simply, if a major bank wants their matching mobi site for their online banking services, then a lot of them may need to go through me first. For example, Credit One Bank uses two websites, which are CreditOne.com and CreditOneBank.com. Of course I took both of the matching mobi's.

That takes a lot of cojones being a US resident they each can sue you for tm infringement /loss of business for 100k plus legal fees. You would be extremely vulnerable with posts like you just made showing a pattern of buying up tm names, courts are less apt to cut a break to someone who does this as opposed to someone who just regged a name by accident which was a TM

also I only mentioned about how many domains you regged because many domainers compare sale price to reg fee on the names they sold, when you have to look at what your total investment was to get the few sales, it looks like you made a good profit, many domainers will lose there shirts on dotmobi, a lot of endusers dont realize that to get the name they want domainers in some cases have invested more than jus the reg fee of that individual domain but many around the theme not knowing which would become the norm for the industry

They can sue me to get their name, and they would actually win quite easily. As long as the names are never used, then I can't be sued for damages, as there are none. You might say that I'm just keeping the names safe for them until they want them. When it comes time for them to acquire their names, I won't have any problem transferring and reaching a quick resolution.

And also, I made $5,500.00 with the two sales, neither of which sued. The reason that I'm pleased about the two that sold is because I actually didn't anticipate selling amy of them until mid way through 2008, so they sold quite a bit ahead of schedule, which is a fairly good sign.

You might be right about that, however it only takes one case where they can prove by your regging their TM they lost business because many of the new generation dont have home phones but only maintain a cell phone, so they were severly restricted in online banking. Causing them to lose customers.
I would like to hear some of the domain lawyers on the board weigh in on this because now you got my curiosity up.

your info does not really help to appraise .mobis it only gives an indication how much a company is willing to pay to avoid taking you to court in order to protect their brand name.

Your approach, which is certainly risky as you only focus on infringing TMs on purpose has nothing to do with valuating mobis as it actually only gives a bad reputation to the TLD as it builds an opinion of just being a scam TLD that cybersquatters use to make money off established companies.
None of the names you have is original and you dont plan to develop any names and all were regged with the intention to make money of a TM holder. You are basically hurting the mobi community and seem to think your behavior should drive prices up..thats just bad karma man,...

Pandemic your selfish actions could ruin the business for us all and will tarnish every domainers reputation as a cybersquatter, and this is what we all want to avoid happening!

I'm glad you've made your money, but i'll be even happier seeing a post about you getting sued! Nothing personal but you are going about the domaining business totally the wrong way, you need to have a word with yourself!!!!!
