Arrow ** "Stake your claim"...New York Times runs positive dotMobi article **

Here is an excerpt from the New York Times dotMobi piece:
Quote:
What businesses need to do now

The short answer is not a lot, except wait. However, it may be a short wait when you consider the following numbers. Right now, mobile devices are outselling PC's four to one. Two thirds of the world's population lives within range of a cell phone tower. In less than a year, more than 500,000 domain addresses with the new .mobi extension (like.com) have been sold. Most of the .mobi landlords are companies and individuals from the United States. The mobile Web is clearly coming and coming fast.

For now a business owner would be wise to consider the following:

Consider, at least, buying the .mobi version of the company Web address. Even if you aren't prepared to launch a mobile-optimized site, stake your claim and sit on it until you are ready. You don't want to have to bid up for it through a broker someday.

And NYTimes is always on the bleeding edge of technology... Let me know when TC reports something on .MOBI...

see this article: http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/04/15...-the-opposite/

Unfortunately .mobi will be worthless until everyone goes back to using phones from 2 years ago.

Nice PR, but I am not going to register a .mobi for my company (neither for my clients).

.mobi will not become huge because of technology...

.mobi is for marketeers to let potential visitors know that a company/organisation/website has a mobile version.

We've seen some marketing campaigns for .mobi sites thus far and we will see a lot more campaigns in the future. It's all about marketing!

I think it will come down to most individuals and businesses 'wanting' to use a .mobi for their mobile website, even though they don't 'have' to.

comsumers don't want to remember two completely DIFFERENT domains for each company

sex.com
sex.net
sex.org
sex.de
sex.es
sex.fr
sex.it
only one of them can have sex.mobi
and you can replace "sex" by anything else

that's why a subdomain solution is better
(because it is a solution)

Agreed, I enjoyed jousting with her

Always fun to watch the Mobiphobic Mob squeal like pigs when the .mobi namespace advances.

Yeah, you got the best of me on that one Vision...... I need to change my ways and subscribe to your practice; "How to best deceive my fellow members."

Promoting and Debating .Mobi 101
by Vision.

1- Create a thread with a misleading title.

2- Claim that blank.mobi site had X.XX Million redirected visitors.

3- Leave out the word "Redirected"

4- Post a statistical link to another Domain forum where the stats CANT be found.

5- If your called on it, Avoid the topic and post as many personal attacks as you can, with the hope the poster will change the subject and go away.

6- If the poster still does not go away, Go to step #1 and repeat the process.

This must be why you have over 200 .mobi threads

BTW, I like the credible source you provided, Did you find it on a bathroom wall?
