To get any edge on the mobile internet, which is important for chosing future domain name trends, maybe its a good idea to share thoughts on where the mobile web be placed in 5 years time.
My thoughts are that streamed TV,radio and games are going to be every-day things used by people on the go, but other things like combined web-tv interactiveness will also be popular, and as speeds of bandwidth improve, services that really need to be 'Live' ,without bottleneck, will actually be possible.
Even desktop computers are getting smaller day by day, so maybe its even possible that ALL devices will be looked at as mobile......
In steps .Mobi ?????

I honestly think a good use of the mobile internet will be to supply information to workers in the field. Guidelines and instruction manuals for safety inspectors, things like that. But I don't see why you need a domain ending in MOBI to do that.
As for entertainment and commerce, I think that it will be much less than expected. Basically because the devices are small and cumbersome to use. The websites will be bland. People will not want to spend hours on the internet from their mobile devices. They will still do most purchases from their home PC or laptop where the pages are bigger and easier to navigate.
The demand for mobile device content is on the increase, devices are no longer living in the stone-age and neither are mobile developers, that extra demand will need to be regulated, .Mobi promises to do that.
Another .biz.
