About Zagat..From Wikipedia....
Zagat Survey was established by Tim and Nina Zagat in 1979 as a way to collect and correlate the ratings of restaurants by diners. For their first guide, covering New York City, the Zagats surveyed their friends. As of 2005, the Zagat Survey included 70 cities, with reviews based on the input of 250,000 individuals reporting over the years. In addition to restaurants, Zagat guides rate hotels, nightlife and shopping, music, movies, theater and golf. The guides are sold in book form, as software for personal digital assistants and mobile phones, and by paid subscription on the Web. Car manufacturer Honda included Zagat information in the GPS-based navigation systems in some of their models available in the United States, including the Acura MDX, the Acura TSX and the Honda Accord.

Another day, another cool site ...
zagat.mobi launched today. One of the mobile content categories I've been hoping to see a lot more of -- restaurants -- is finally here. Even cooler is that they're testing the mobile marketing waters with Visa Signature aboard for an exclusive two-month mobile advertising flight. This will be an interesting case to watch for mobile advertising acceptance since the Zagat information is already well-tailored to a mobile context.

Let me get this straight.
Zagat.com is advertising their .mobi on their home page.
Then we see zagat.mobi advertised in the subways of New York City.
And now being promoted on Apple's iPhone apps site.
http://www.apple.com/webapps/enterta...zagatmobi.html
So what does all these mean, Michael?
The end of .mobi?
The end of zagat?
Does this mean that we will have restrictions placed on the number of threads we can have regarding mobi?
Does this mean that .mobi enthusiasts are over reacting again?
When will enough be enough?
and the saga continues....
All HAIL the GREAT QUEEN DOT MOBI
It means the 2000 .com bubble is about to repeat its bursting: this time with .mobi![]()
Doc, it means the beginning of the end for the Mobiphobic Mob.
The rumormongering, the doom & gloom, the demonizing will not stop dotMobi momentum.
The 1st Law of Motion by Sir Isaac Newton states
dotMobi is in motion --there is no net force to stop it.An object that is in motion will stay in motion until a net force acts upon it.
Not Sashass. Not Turdic. No dotMobi smear merchant can halt the progress of the dotMobi namespace on the Mobile Web.
Don't get caught on the wrong side of history.
Welcome dotMobi's progress.
The best is yet to come!

just a question, off topic. Can I use a .mobi and build a normal website on it (not a mobile one), or are there any restrictions?
On topic, here's how I see Zagat.mobi: a desperate attempt by a failing website to try and be "cool and different".

A website of approx. 20k Alexa traffic rank doesn't excite me either.
