I do have permission from an industry expert to quote from their book on it but it was also suggested for me to go straight to the source - quote the person who "invented" (for the lack of a better term) this niche.
Now, it's impossible to ask him since he's been dead for a very long time (90 years?) but I'm wondering about copyright issues in regards to this? I'm told, and I've seen, that many people quote his writings and books, so I'm wondering what kind of length of time is there on copyright and print?

i think this could help you.the only way it might come back to haunt you is if a lawsuit appears which i doubt being that the creator is dead.according to the link above copyrights should only protect the creator of the intellectual property.
Here ya go. This will help confuse the heck out of you.

Don't even true to look up laws on "fair use".
Also, many copyrights may be passed on for life to the family or descendants.
And, never forget to copyright your own work. If you quote, always add a footnote to make it clear that this is not your work nor are you claiming it to be your work.

Thank you for the information. I have seen copyrights carried on by "the estate" of the author and I always add in a "credit" to quotes (including links, if available).
Luckily, a freind of mine wrote what I needed and has allowed me to use it, so no worry now about the copyright.![]()
