    Creating a Disclaimer Page

Has anyone set up a 'disclaimer' page for their web site? If so, did you use a lawyer to write it?

How common is it to copy somone else's disclaimer, changing the company names involved? Has anyone here done that? If you have, were you ever contacted by the company who's disclaimer you copied?

I don't really see anything wrong with it as long as it is ideally for your company. I'm sure what works for the next man may not work for you.

It's always better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Get it? The worst that can happen is that someone is ticked and sends you a C&D letter...

However, depending on the type of site you are running, it's always better to make sure you have all of corners covered. So i would create one and then go to a law forum or site and ask someone to go over it for you and give their input.

Your best bet and the best way to cover your rear is to have an attorney write it (try to find one versed in the field of your site so they may know the loopholes).

You can write your own but if it is for payments (for services or goods) you may be opening yourself up to a lawsuit if things don't turn out the way the payer expected them to.

better to hire a lawyer for the job if its going to involve money.
Else, go on, read other people's disclaimers & build up your own. Try not to copy the whole thing from one person.
