in my openion directory PR & quality is important.
Google PR is calculated based on the PR of websites (directories) having a link to your site. This is in addition to the traffic that you have.

According to me you must look at the quality content, number of backlinks the directory could have and the PR.

A lot of directory owners set up then are gone a year later. So maybe look at the directories which have been around for a while
