I coded a real simple way of grabbing the latest news and weather on http://www.joetx.com. This way doesn't save the information though, but could easily be done. If you would like to work with me on some custom jobs, send me a PM.

If you would like to save torrent links, unfortunately the largest torrent site (to remain unnamed) doesn't have any working RSS feeds at the moment. You would have to know of other feeds to use for the time being.

As BuyAuthority noted, use RSS. If however you intend to 'scrape' sites for their content then id advise against it unless you know how, in which case don't forget to use a content rewriter on the scraped content just in case, though readability factor will drop.

I don't recommend on automatically scraping sites as your site will require their site to remain the same in order to be able to get the latest content. Bigger sites (Yahoo, etc) tend to change their layouts frequently, which would make you have to upgrade your scripts as well.

RSS would be the best bet, then manually scraping what you need if necessary.
