I own the above domain name. However I am not sure whether to go down the route of a full site devoted to getting the best from social networking or to create a site with third party developers. Any ideas?

I'd say there is always room for new social networks, however, i'd be more inclined to sell. You could really cash in on this whilst the market is hot.
