I am excited about my new BLOG

I am real excited about my new blog

Its not yet developed, so I can't show it to you

In fact, I meet with my programmer this week to discuss price, and for him to give me a proposal

Can you all, give me specifics about building a blog that I should ask him to incorporate

I know WordPress is popular as a "buzz word" but I really don't know what that is

If anybody can point me to cool blog sites that are worth seeing how they are designed , then I would be very very much obliged

Anything at all on specific things to discuss with him regarding BOTH design and functionality

Thanks

It's popular blog software.

What category is your blog going to be?

http://opensourcecms.com/

This site will let you try out/demo different blog applications without needing to install them on your own server. It's usually cheaper to customize a blog script, than it is to build one from scratch.

Hi Guys,

Its a mortgage blog in case you want to know

It wont be launched for a few months as the entire site is going thru redesign

The current blog isnt worth pointing out , not becuase it doesnt recive traffic or because I dont work hard at it - but the redesign is what I am focusing on

If anybody has tips for blog development PLEASE let me know

From what I gather - Wordpress is the best software but does anybody have anything more to add as far as practical advice

Wordpress is probably the best blogging software. You can find a lot of templates on their website so you don't need to have your own designed if you do not want too.

http://wordpress.org/

My suggestion to you would be to install wordpress on your own or use a hosting provider that can automatically install it for you like http://www.infinityws.com

I dont even know where to begin

All the blogs look the same with minor add ons

How do you distinguish which template will look best

or should I have my programmer custom design mine

Does wordpress allow for adding images to a posting, so each post can have a picture tied to the story if desired

Article archive???

Byron it's unclear if you know what you are doing. It sounds like you are ordering a burger without knowing what beef is. Have you done the writing yet?

Whether you want to hear it or not, the fact is that a blog must be content-driven, and the content should be something that the blogger wants to write and is passionate about. A mortgage blog wouldn't be like a mini-site, with content possibly prepared by someone else. It would be by the blogger, who would know what he's talking about, and would show a different slant on mortgage information or experience, something that can't be got from the normal search engine trawl. So to have someone else setting up your content for you would instantly put your blog at the back of the queue, unless he or she was extremely talented as a writer. And if that is the case, why isn't he or she writing a personal blog?

I AGREE , you should blog your own point of view from an angle that the news or normal article's don't show something that is completely unique to yo.

His posts show he does not. This guy doesn't understand enough about administrating a blog to get what you are saying. And he prefers to keep it that way. Read the above posts. he posts a thread here shouting about how excited he is about having a blog. But he doesn't know the first thing about it and keeps talking about it.

As the owner/administrator of several blogs I know they take work and passion and prose and midnight or 3 am postings to keep content fresh as well as comments admin and such. That's after the design and tweaking. But just texting "i have a blog" are you kidding? I have a water and gas bill. yayy!! Can anyone tell me how hydrogen works and what the best software is because I can't pay attention to the general knowledge from that site or anywhere else in any of millions of articles about water everywhere."

"I am excited about my new BLOG".

Of course he is. He has no idea how much doing a real blog is.

"From what I gather - Wordpress is the best software but does anybody have anything more to add as far as practical advice "

Is that what we can do at dnforum? Just start texting into threads I am excited about "xxxxxx" i need help give me free consulting groom my venture because I am too ADD to think for two shakes about it intelligently?

This guy can't have done one single tutorial about it but he's asking a community for seasoned advice and industry level advice?

Why can't he do what almost every webmaster on this site has done with at least one of their websites and do it themselves? Burn in by learnin'. Does he expect step by step spoon feeding every part of the way?

Have you noticed the thread was resurrected from 3 months ago. Things change over time. Maybe the OP can add some insight.
