Starting a Blog and which software to use?

Hi people,

I am thinking of starting a blog..actually a few, but wondering if there is a best one or ones I should just not look at.

I have been interested in so far...WordPress, B2 Evolution and Movable Type..

so I don't know which one to try or is easiest to use?

It really depends on your technical knowledge. Installing Wordpress on your own domain works very well and is easy to administer. However if you have trouble with installing software than you may want to consider a hosted solution.

I use wordpress, and i think its great, but i've been told by quite a few people, that you should avoid wordpress if you have a website with a huge amount of traffic. You might notice that a lot of wordpress blogs go down quick once they have been featured on the digg.com homepage.

There are many very large blogs out there using wordpress that get tons of traffic. The main reason why most peoples websites go down from being on the DIGG.com homepage is because of the servers, not so much of the script.

Wordpress for all the reasons listed above, plus

plugins are easy to add
Code is there for you tweak
uses full css code

*note about blogs in general: pay attention to dupe content, get familiar with your robot.txt file and how to exclude certain directories to limit the bots from letting your pages go supplemental.

That's not true.

If you use MovableType with static content Apache won't have any issues with the traffic

A bit redundant, but I'll vote for WordPress.
