Estibot (free version) seems to use old database... anyone know for sure?
For example, for the keyword "spitzer", estibot returns two results:
spitzer 3708 6320000 1
spitzer acura 99 354 2
while from Overture we get
2862 eliot spitzer
1650 elliot spitzer
885 spitzer for governor
(snip)
(By the way, what is "Estibot Pro", and does it give up-to-date results?) |
Hi-
thanks for your questions&comments. I'd like to emphasize that Estibot does not contribute to hammering any services with automated requests. I don't resort to scraping (which is a damaging practice, distorting search popularity data) - the Estibot data is retrieved either from archived data, or from paid API services.
In response to your questions:
Estibot uses archived and extrapolated data, not "real" overture data, so there will be differences to the "real" OVT, although it seems they are very much in the same ballpark for the vast majority of search terms. The "official" overture returns results from Jan 2007 so it's not exactly fresh either.
The Estibot search popularity data is not "worse" than overture, it is actually better in many respects, I have done comparisons with other keyword research tools and found that the Estibot data in most cases reflects reality better than the "official" OVT data. This is arguable of course, as is the data from any keyword tool - no keyword tool is perfect.
Re your question about the Ajax Overture tool:
The Estibot free version only returns a maximum of two results per search. The Ajax tool returns only results starting with your entered keyword seed. Therefore, it won't return "elliot spitzer" if you type in "spitzer" - it will only return those terms starting with "spitzer".
The paid version returns 100 instant results for each keypress with the Ajax tool.
I'm working on a tool that returns the results in a similar format to the "official" ovt tool as per your example, should be finished soon.
Re Your question about estibot pro
Estibot Pro uses the same archived data as the free tool, but with more quota for searches - provides bulk tools for large searches and can provide, for instance, ovt results for 10,000 search terms virtually in an instant.
Thanks
