Thumbs down Amazon affiliate program- is it really worth it now?

Seriously! It seems now that whenever someone buys something though my Amazon affiliate link what they buy is purchased though a reseller etc.. so I get no commission from the sale.

It seems that I only get commission if it is sold though one of their "partners" or directly from them which now seems like a small fraction of the things that they sell - meaning the majority of what people can buy you won't get any kind of affiliate commissions from.

Most of my amazon sales are third party, you should be making money on those also. Some third party sellers sell their items at 1 cent and charge a lot in shipping which you make nothing on.

I make a few small sales a month with them, maybe $1-$2 in commisions. Very low conversion ratio for me.
All offers good for 72 hours except running auctions

I am on pace to send Amazon over 70,000 in sales this year up from 50,000 last year. The only thing I don't like is the one day cookie, so you have to make your site so they purchase right away. I would say normal banners don't work well. You also have to be on top of things sold tons of hand sanitizer during flu outbreak, and when gas prices skyrocketed pushed normal goods so people did not have to leave their house. Amazon has been good to me but it took a while for me to get it down....

I don't add a lot of sites anymore, I have to many but mostly just searching the bestselling products in amazon in a certain category find the name of the product, then seeing if the domain is available. Its easy to get a good ranking with smaller niches, if you have enough small niches your money can add up.
I have been writing a tutorial on this...

John, how big are the websites that you create on each of these product domains? I am wondering how many pages each mini site has to have, in order to get the good rankings that you mention

1-250 pages, I have some that are one product one page domains that get sales. A lot of the products well only really have overture of 50-2000 so really not high searched terms and really no competition. And really most of the money is made on the low overture domains. People searching for that are searching to buy. Sometimes the numbers look horrible in my domainers eyes no search volume, no overture, and I could not give it away here, yet it ranks number one in yahoo and makes $75 a month.
Most of the sites the goal is to make $15 a year that means its profitable. I am by no means good at seo, its just good domains that have been unregistered for low search volume products.

Thanks for the explanation John. How many pages of content do you add on average on these domains and how often do you update/add new content?
Sorry if I'm asking too many questions its just that I find your approach very interesting and I'm curious to hear more

I stop wasti g my time with amazon long ago.
When you have apx $1,000 in sales and you are still not reaching the payout mark,,then its time to move on.

Theres lots of affiliate programs that pay great don't settle for one that doesn't

The main reason I moved away from the Amazon program is they do not allow you to advertise products from any other merchandiser other than Amazon. It's buried in the terms and conditions but important to know!
