How can i better advertise on my site

my site is www.guitarheroforum.com

I hate popups, so if thats still an option these days I wouldnt like to do that.

I just feel that traffic is picking up and I'm not well positioned to monetize any traffic or anything for that matter.

If you have any suggestions please post them. If they involve some coding or the like, I am willing to pay to have it done.

Thanks a bunch!

Simple awnser: get bigger, its a small site, and i bet there are a dozen like these

Bigger awnser,

Imagine i have a website, selling guitars, and the convertion rate is 10000 : 1
average.

an average guitar costs 250 dollar? with a 25% profit margin = 62.50
that means, he can MAXIMUM spend 6.25 usd per 1000 impressions, and he wont make profit than.

so, tell me, in how many days you get 10000 page impressions?

wrong niche IMO

Sincerely I like the clean layout and the idea. However, I would suggest for you to build the committee to become something larger. Meaning you need to offer exchange with same niche sites and gather more traffic.
At a stage where you get around 10K UV per day or approximate 300K Alexa (standard non-webmaster traffic) then you can apply adsense placement for starts.
Becoming a big forum you can also offer other sites or company or selling guitar shops to advertise on your site.
That is my opinion though. Goodluck.

Nice ad at the top but only one small problem, I'd say the vast majority of your visitors (>99%) already have guitar hero (but you do have the world tour add-on pack so that helps).

Also try a couple of Amazon.com affiliate links to add-ons (strategy guides, I don't know what else there would be). The empty spaces on the sides would be nice for this but don't go overboard, maybe 2-3 graphics.

Personally, I'd stay away from popups.
1) I despise them and would avoid going to a site on a regular basis because of them (which would be bad for a forum)
2) Most people now have pop up blockers so they wouldn't even see it.

Click rate on sites can be very low, especially in the beginning. Don't expect to make a killing a few months into the site's operation. Work and concentrate on getting content - maybe even pay some people to make posts in your forum. Revenue will come in but it may be slow.
