| Platinum Lifetime Member | I Need Advice on Advertising for My Site I own a funny pictures site called looku dot com. The traffic numbers are good but the quality of traffic is not that great because most of the traffic comes from social media. It has been picked up by some major sites and linked to as well. It averages 2.5 pageviews and people usually stay about 2 minutes. It has received 1 million pageviews so far this month but I am making almost nothing in adsense. I understand the quality of traffic is not the best and I really don't want popups or ads every 5 pageviews like adbrite. I think the ads are pretty well placed and the site is fairly clean. There are some "real girls" pics but no nudity and there is a "safe for work" button that will keep the bad stuff off the screen if you use it. Does anyone have any advice for me to monetize this thing? Thank you in advance Bgum

Country: | Right, first up is to dump Adsense as it's hairy dog bollocks. Well, don't dump it until you've got this other stuff ready, but here's my solution: Your site clearly has tags to put pictures into the correct places. Either make, or hire someone to make, a script that allows you to stick in affiliate banners and display ones that are relevant to the tag. Things like dating submits for the pics of girls, gaming crap for fail pics (MMORPGs in particular), Amazon stuff for the cartoons, etc. If possible, mix it up even further by having the script take keywords from image titles / filenames and attempting to offer match it... i.e. Simpsons pic = Simpsons DVDs in the banner. Make sure you've got something that will allow you to see which ads are doing the best in terms of EPC (not CTR or over all revenue... You'll shoot yourself in the foot). A good package is Propser202, or Tracking202 if you want it offsite (although people with cross site script blockers will screw your stats). I'm not sure what CMS you're running, but there are already plugins that will do this for Joomla and Wordpress... both of which your site could be made to run on. As for where to get offers, well, Commission Junction and Amazon for physical products, Hydra, Copeac and Neverblue for lead generation, and Clickbank if you feel like hocking crap eBooks and digital products that are probably going to screw over your end user. |

DNF$: 10 Location: Arizona | I purchased marketmixup dot com 3 months ago and have used the site for political humor and news on the recession. The name is great for the times, but I'm looking to expand it. I'm currently using blogger.com and have noticed that wordpress has many more options. Adsense pays me on average $5 a day, but I feel the site has much more potential. Would Wordpress be a better option when using a blogger? Thanks! Market Mix Up |

Country: | Depends what you're doing with it. If you're JUST using Adsense, and don't intend to market or develop, stick with Blogger. It's easier. If you're wanting to get into all the internal and external SEO stuff, then yeah, get Wordpress. aLink, Internal Link Building, All in one SEO, Google Sitemaps, and YAARP plugins just to get you started. |
