    interesting mini-site with parking pages

search for "vin number check" in google and the first result is

    http://www.vehicleidentificationnumber.com

now in the drop down box where it says 'choose a vehicle' choose one and click go.

does the next page look familiar?

to me it looks exactly like a parked.com template

i'm wondering how this is done, so that your homepage is a legit website but to integrate parking-like templates onto other pages. anyone seen this before or know about it?

i can see from the source code that it is just using a frame on the second page

Never seen anything like it before. It's odd how if you view source the main page does NOT appear to be using framed forwarding (as you would expect). Would seem basically impossible to implement WITHOUT framed forwarding. However, the parked.com pages are framed.

Pretty cool and an excellent idea. That way the SEs look at the main page as a non-parked domain in the serps and as being a 'regular' site but you still can benefit from the much better CTR rate from the parked.com sub-pages at the same time. I imagine you could also run Adsense on the index page if allowed bythe TOS.

Instead of hiring a minisite designer you can make your own minsites at low cost by simply making a main page and leave the rest of the work to parked.com

Surprising there are not more domainers doing that (but exactly how is it done?).

It's just a hosted form that submits to a frame which shows:

    http://www.searchnut.com/?domain=use...oryreports.com

in the second frame. All menu results point to the same page above.

What would be awesome is to change the parked page keywords with the choices the user chose in the form. That way you could have a much more targeted lander.

Nice work Tia. I found this on the interwebs:

searchnut.com ("Search Nut") is a domain controlled by two nameservers at parked.com
and whois for searchnut.com shows Parked.com as the registrant

the question is now what is searchnut and where do we sign up?

incidentally vehicleidentificationnumber.com is owned by a company called Virtual Clicks

Real simple. If you already have a parked.com acct., when you want to frame forward (instead of using dns) they instruct you to use searchnut.com as the forwarding url.

Assuming it's ok to do this, its can be extremely valuable, one of the most interesting and potentially beneficial techniques I have ever seen, imo.

P.S. One odd issue I am alarmed about is my anti-virus program reports the link beliow is UNSAFE:

I don't believe TOS from parking companies allow something like this. Shouldn't be too hard to implement it.

    Look at this url:
    http://www.usedvehiclehistoryreports.com/
It is the same page as the bottom frame of the page that the drop down sent to.

This url in the bottom frame
    http://www.vehicleidentificationnumb...a=vinnumbers01
    redirects you to
    http://www.usedvehiclehistoryreports.com

I had even better ideas without using the frames. But I don't think TOS from most parking companies allow it.

I read parked.com's TOS tonight and didn't really see anything that explicitly prohibits this. I did go to their back-end and this is what it says about framed redirection:

"With Frame redirection, after you type in your domain name the page resolves to the destination web page, but your domain name stays in the browser. This can give you added branding perception for your domain name.

Please note that once a domain resolves using URL Frame, that domain stays in the browser the same way for all links, including links away from your site. This may or may not be desirable.

If using Manual Redirection, be sure to change YOURDOMAIN to the domain in your account. "

I'm going to email my rep tomorrow. In the meantime, I've set up a test site for him to look at for reference: http://www.amtuner.com

Just talked with my account manager and he said there cannot be anything above the ad feed, only below it. Good to know.

Very interesting...this is the way to maintain rankings for a domain in search engines and monetize it with Parked. But then why won't you just add content and use Adsense yourself ?

Is anyone able to give actual usage results?

Any members have tried this redirect and seen a jump in search volume, CTR, revenue?

I am surprised this is not a violation of TOS. Parked is infamous for deleting revenue and clicks that they claim the advertiser refuses to pay for (even though that advertiser gets the traffic and the business).
