Problogger, Adbrite, Doubleclick and a few others recently participated in an online advertising panels for newbies at the SXSW conference. Though it's listed as a panel for newbies, it's a great listen for anyone who's trying to monetize, particularly blogs.

Online Advertising Panel Podcast

One of the most interesting tips in the podcast is in regard to domain names. The Adbrite rep (I think - trying to figure the voices) says that when they sell ad space to a company the company usually asks to see a list of potential sites for placement. They don't visit the sites. This means they are going solely on the domain name alone. He says they're looking for clean, simple domain names to advertise on. Which makes sense. "Harry's Barn" could be a fabulous cooking site, but if I'm selling gourmet ingredients, it's not going to pop out at me if you show me a list.

All in all, more things to think about.
