AdSense for Domains

I just saw this when I logged in today:

Quote:
AdSense for Domains Quick Start Guide

If you have an undeveloped domain on which you'd like to display Google ads and earn revenue, this guide will help walk you through the setup process.

Please be aware that you can only use a domain with one Google service at a time and we remove domains used in AdSense for domains from Google Apps. Make sure that you do not want to use your domain for other purposes before adding it.

To get started, first sign in to your AdSense account and visit the AdSense Setup tab. Then, choose AdSense for domains as the product to begin setting up your domains. Click the + Add new domains link, which will take you to the Add Parked Domains page.

OK, I'm confused again. What exactly is this about? Talk down to me, I don't mind.

Google's version of domain parking - in a not so easy way.

Ah. So if you're with Sedo there's no point.

No, you have another option. Sedo uses Google ads anyways, so now they're giving them directly.

Now I'm lost again. How can you be on Sedo and Google at the same time? Don't you have to point the DNS to one or the other?

This is very interesting.

Thanks for posting. It would seem to make things a lot easier for people who already have an adsense account and want to try out or use adsense for domains.

If you think Sedo's templates are pretty basic, wait till you see Adsense for domains. Read comments here.

Sedo gets their ads supplied from a feed from Google. (So Google gets paid on a click, they give a small piece to Sedo who in return, gives you a small piece of that).

But - if you think it will give you more per click - it just gives Google another reason to keep more money.

The expanded new AFD has been operational for a while and has been extensively discussed on the forums for some time. It is old news.

Well then I missed it.

Thanks for the link. It seems that they are far from becoming a full fledged parking company, the question remains;
1. do they have plans on improving in the future; i.e.,
a) simpler domain forwarding,
b) better templates,
c) better stats
2. will the payoffs be any better then the companies they're serving feeds to.

Traffic Club used to have a Google option, which I had some domains there, which were doing better there then with DS or Sedo, but the majority not.

Correct, you can only park with one company at a time, so you can use either Doamin Sponsor Sedo, etc., or now you can use Google as well.

BTW, you can randomize your parking, once forwarding to Sedo, next forwarding to Doamin Sponsor, etc.

Can you provide some sample domains? Certain keywords would perform less well when used without any images (e.g. at Sedo).

Can anyone else share their experiences with adsense for domains? Good, bad, etc?

Sharing Experience of AFD

As many of asking the experience, here is my sharing. Please NOTE that I was not earning too much with SEDO, so this could not be treated as a benchmark, however what I feel personally that AFD should be better in terms of monetization and Google should improve the appearance of AFD domains.

I am hiding the actual domain name and replacing with Domain 1, Domain 2, etc.

Domain 1 :
=========

Previously At SEDO:

January 2007 €2.64 Revenue
February 2007 €3.97 Revenue
March 2007 €3.07 Revenue
April 2007 €3.54 Revenue
May 2007 €3.45 Revenue
June 2007 €3.26 Revenue
July 2007 €8.36 Revenue
August 2007 €10.57 Revenue
September 2007 €4.11 Revenue
October 2007 €2.98 Revenue
November 2007 €2.10 Revenue
December 2007 €1.30 Revenue
January 2008 €3.08 Revenue
February 2008 €0.90 Revenue
March 2008 €2.01 Revenue
April 2008 €3.03 Revenue
May 2008 €2.75 Revenue
June 2008 €1.33 Revenue
July 2008 €3.73 Revenue
August 2008 €3.92 Revenue
September 2008 €2.29 Revenue
October 2008 €1.59 Revenue
November 2008 €1.50 Revenue
December 2008 €0.93 Revenue
January 2009 €1.62 Revenue
February 2009 €1.46 Revenue
March 2009 €1.25 Revenue

Now on Google AFD:

March 2009 $ 0.29 (Moved on last days in March)
April 2009 $ 2.21 (So far, 8 days left)

Domain 2:
=======

At SEDO:

January 2008 € 1.04
February 2008 € 1.79
March 2008 € 1.93
April 2008 € 2.54
May 2008 € 1.19
June 2008 € 1.62
July 2008 € 1.51
August 2008 € 1.87
September 2008 € 1.37
October 2008 € 2.11
November 2008 € 1.50
December 2008 € 1.02
January 2009 € 1.15
February 2009 € 1.15

Now on Google AFD

March 2009 $ 5.57
April 2009 $ 1.30 (so far, 8 days left)

Well, in my opinion, some keywords domains are performing well on Parked sites while some performing well with Google AFD.

Well, I cannot jump to the conclusion which one is better and which one is not. I think we have to taste Google AFD also.

Further, SEDO has improved its parking pages with time while Google needs to improve its parking pages appearance.

But remember, if you park on SEDO, you may have a chance to sale your domain and that option is not available with Google AFD.

For someone who wants to setup his domain with Google AFD, here is a general Setup Guide at Adsense for Domains Setup Guide.

Thanks
